APEX Insight: Panasonic Avionics has been busy making a whole series of announcements at APEX EXPO in Singapore. Here’s a roundup of the company’s biggest announcements from Day One of the trade show.
Panasonic eX1 Selected for Aeroméxico’s 737 MAX Fleet
Aeroméxico’s new 60-aircraft order of Boeing 737 MAXs will be equipped with Panasonic Avionics’ eX1 linefit in-flight entertainment (IFE) system. The agreement extends the companies’ long-running partnership. “This order shows that airlines are continuing to invest in embedded IFE systems for narrow-body aircraft,” says Cedric Rhoads, Panasonic’s executive director, Corporate Sales and Product Management. “It debunks the idea that connectivity and tablets are going to kill embedded IFE.”
ZeroTouch Launched for Real-Time Connectivity
Panasonic’s ZeroTouch gives airlines the ability to channel operational data and passenger IFE content using a multi-platform connectivity model. The system, which can seamlessly utilize 4G, Wi-Fi or Panasonic’s eXConnect global satellite service, is already being trialed by airlines. ZeroTouch will enter Phase Two trials, which will add a more robust infrastructure and management console, next year.
Captify Gives Airlines Marketing Might
Panasonic Avionics has launched Captify, an in-flight marketing platform that combines software tools and support teams to reach 1.3 billion travelers per year.
Panasonic and Flight Level Media Partner for Social Media App
Using an in-flight app, passengers will be able to send free, one-way Facebook posts including real-time flight data during flight. Similar applications for Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter will follow.
CoKinetic Marks 10 Years as Panasonic’s Software Partner
CoKinetic’s AirPlay continues to be at the forefront of Panasonic’s IFE systems, powering all generations of Panasonic’s platforms, including the eFX, eX1, eX2, eX3, eXLite and eXW.
