APEX Insight: Day two of APEX Multimedia Market in Berlin presented another opportunity to connect with attendees and talk about passion for film and the current state of airline content options and delivery.

Having established her entertainment company 24 years ago, Terry Steiner is well-known in the in-flight entertainment industry. In this short interview, Terry discusses the market’s evolution over the years and how the ever-increasing storage capacity of modern in-flight entertainment systems has enabled airlines to expand their offering of independent films.

On the opening day of APEX Multimedia Market, boutique CSP West Entertainment was named in a press release announcing that premium Hollywood content is now available to customers of AirFi, which provides portable streaming IFE solutions to airlines. We caught up with West Entertainment’s Kate Groth to learn what a “boutique” CSP is, and why she got involved in the project.

People are often more inclined to be adventurous and try new things when traveling. This can apply to film selection as well, and many flyers choose to explore titles and genres that they may not indulge in at home. APEX Media spoke with Edwin Cheung about the passion that Encore Inflight has for sourcing artistic content with a special human touch.

Based in Dublin, Monster Entertainment handles a diverse range of children’s programming, music and documentaries. Its core business, though, is children’s animation, and airlines are just one of the channels that Monster distributes these titles to. In this interview, Monster Entertainment’s chairman Andrew Fitzpatrick explains how a single animated short can turn into a series shown on 45 airlines, and how even the youngest fliers are engaging with media differently these days.
