The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has stated it will announce new regulations requiring closed captioning for inflight video in U.S. airspace to assist deaf and hard-of-hearing passengers. Clearly, new closed captioning and similar rules have the potential to seriously impact many segments of our industry and present challenges from economic, practical and technical standpoints. APEX has taken the lead on this matter and is dealing directly with DOT on behalf of the industry in conjunction with A4A, IATA, NCAM and MPAA. Hear an update on the status of the white paper submission, recommendations and next steps.

Again, such rules can seriously impact many segments of our industry. This session will address descriptive text for the blind. What technologies are showcased in the industry to address the needs of disabled passengers?
