LAN doubles its number of films on board and offers the largest selection
of Inflight Entertainment in South America
• LAN increased its range of movie, from 45 to 110, on board its long-haul flights.
• Its content includes 12 blockbusters, 10 Latin-American films, 42 TV shows, more than 1,000 CDs and 25 games.
In March 2013, LAN Airlines improved its inflight entertainment on board long-haul flights on its Boeing 767, Boeing 787 and Airbus A340 fleet, increasing the number of films from 45 to 110, solidifying its position in South America as the airline with the widest range of onboard entertainment.
The 110 on board movies includes 12 blockbusters, 8 recent hits, a selection of the ten of the best Latin-American films, plus 80 movies of all times.
Also, the system has 3 full seasons to be renewed every six months, 42 TV shows, over 1000 CD's (10 new every month), 10 exclusive audio channels and 25 games, which allow passengers to play alone or with other passengers.
"Passengers feedback indicates that movies, especially new releases, are highly valued. We have therefore, invested in increasing our inflight selection considerably, which now positions us well above other airlines in the region and in the top ten worldwide. We choose the best series for our frequent flyers, as the successful The Newsroom, of which the complete 1st season is available on board, "said Fernanda Toro, Travel Experience Director at LATAM.
A good criterion for selection is the key to meeting the expectations of the passengers, said Toro. "We are very pleased with our current selection. The proof of this is that 8 of the films available in our March entertainment were nominated for the Oscars 2013, among them Silver Linings Playbook, Life of Pi, Les Misérables, Argo and Amour".
Ernesto Ayala is the prominent journalist who advises LAN and TAM in the selection of the movie content.
"Our main concern is to achieve a mix of films that combine two criteria in the smartest possible way: quality and diversity. We are interested in offering our passengers attractive releases. Thus, each month we offer the best comedies, dramas, romantic and action films and more independent movies" said Ayala.
New flight entertainment system
In 2012, LAN implemented a new entertainment system on board its Boeing 767 and 787 aircraft. The key features of the new LAN inflight entertainment system include higher definition screens and the new generation of 100% touch-screen technology (9-inch for Economy Class and 15.4-inch for Premium Business Class).
For convenience, there is universal connection that enables passengers to charge their computers, mobiles, iPod, tablets or other electronic items.
