Yves is a competitive strategist and complex systems expert with 15 years of experience modeling high-velocity environments and markets for public and private sector clients. Senior Manager for Content and Social Media
Scott Carmichael is the senior manager for content and social media at Gogo. Scott joined Gogo in 2011 after 5 years as the executive editor for AOL’s travel blogs. Within Gogo, Scott is responsible for all social media, including the company blog, Concourse.
Scott helped create around the clock social media customer care at Gogo in 2011. These efforts paid off in 2014 when Gogo won the Skift award for social customer care. Scott is also an award winning event technology expert, and the creative brain behind many of the event innovations brought to APEX Expo over the years. Before his career in social media, Scott traveled the world, and called the UK, The Netherlands and Spain his home.

Michael is a current member of the APEX Board of Directors and serves as Chair of the Technology Committee. He also chaired the Digital Content Management Working Group since 2001 and the previous WAEA Satellite Content Delivery Working Group. He has been in the IFE industry, WAEA and APEX since 1979 as a content provider, an industry journalist, and a technology executive. He is the recipient of APEX’s Outstanding Contribution Award for his work in adopting digital specifications for the industry. He has worked on various SMPTE Working Groups and industry committees and has been an APEX liaison to SMPTE, MPEGIF, and the Internet Streaming Media Alliance. He is currently Chief Consultant, Content and Media Strategy, for Lufthansa Systems.
With over a decade in the industry, Max coordinates Google’s engagement with a range of Android Partners. Max is currently working with a number of In-Flight Entertainment providers and other travel partners to bring Android and the Google experience to the passenger. Max earned a bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering and lives in London, England.

John Courtright is Director of Sales & Marketing for SIE. He is responsible for Sales, Marketing, Business Development and Program Management for Major Aircraft Modification programs,. These programs include the installation design, engineering, and certification for Interior Reconfigurations, Satcom/Wi-Fi Connectivity programs and Special Purpose projects such as the ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital. John has been with SIE for 9 years. Previously John was a systems analyst and inflight entertainment manager for United Airlines and held executive positions for Avicom International (Lockheed), Matsushita Avionics (now Panasonic), AT&T Wireless and co-owner of a successful engineering/certification firm focussing on IFEC programs. For 6 years, John was a Board member and Vice-President of the WAEA (now APEX) and ran the Technical Committee for the association. John has over 25 years of aviation experience including content revenue management, Passenger Connectivity System implementation and Aircraft Installation Design and Certification. John is a graduate of Northwestern University and the University of California-Berkeley and is a member of the Project Management Institute.
Christine De Gagné has 15 years of aviation experience and was recently appointed to the role of Cabin Marketing Manager, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. In her role, she is responsible to define the cabin market requirements for the C Series, CRJ Series and Q Series aircraft programs. Additionally, she supports sales campaigns around the world by presenting customers with value propositions and operational benefits of Bombardier commercial aircraft, aligned to the customers’ business needs focused on providing a positive passenger experience. Christine holds a Bachelors in Engineering Physics from Queen’s University, and is currently completing her Masters in Engineering Management from the Université de Sherbrooke. Christine is a mentor for younger members of the Women in Aerospace organization and volunteers with the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra.
Rossen Dimitrov is designated as Senior Vice President – Customer Experience at Qatar Airways. He directly reports to the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Airline and leads a team that is focused on listening to and servicing customers’ needs. His organization advocates customer views, helps developed resource customer service training and solutions for all customer facing staff. Under the leadership of Mr. Dimitrov, the Customer Experience Division consists Cabin Crew (Inflight Services), QR Style and Image, Cabin Crew Safety and Service Training, Recruitment, Product Development, HIA and QR outstation Lounges, Premium Operations, Qatar Airways Uniform Department (including for it’s Subsidiaries), Qatar Airways Catering Department as well as all other Customer Experience and Service Delivery area. Rossen has more than 20 years of experience in the aviation industry with deep concentration in Cabin Crew Management and Training, In-Flight Services, and Customer Experience. Steven has 20 years of airline and consultancy experience, 11 of these with Low Cost Carriers (LCC), primarily in senior Commercial roles. Having worked across the world with start-ups, turnarounds and established leading airlines, Steven’s specialist areas include sales and distribution, revenue management, ancillary revenue, E-Commerce and Commercial strategy. Steven was a founding member of Scoot, Singapore Airlines’ successful long-haul LCC and is now Deputy Chief Executive Officer of U-Fly, the world’s first alliance of independent LCC’s. Henry joined Spafax 16 years ago as Senior Film Acquisitions Manager. As a content services expert, he has delivered entertainment strategy and products for a variety of clients over the past 19 years from BSkyB and the BBC to airline clients such as British Airways, Cathay Pacific and Lufthansa. Henry currently heads Spafax’s global market research department and leads its business strategy with key clients, including International Airlines Group (IAG).

Aaron Heslehurst is one of the main faces on BBC World News. He’s been a high profile BBC business news presenter since February 2002. He currently presents across all of the BBC television channels, including BBC World News, the 24 hour News Channel and is part of the presenter team for Business Live – broadcast daily on both World News and the News Channel. He covers the latest from leading international and domestic corporate news to global finance as well as breaking major news stories.
In 2009 Aaron won “Best Industry Commentator of the Year” – voted by the British Public in the Daily Telegraph Wealth Management Awards.

TJ Horsager is a lead Connected Aircraft strategist and architect for Gogo. He has accumulated over 20 years of aerospace industry experience, including 15 years’ developing and working with airline technology. He holds an engineering degree and multiple FAA certificates including Commercial Pilot, Airframe & Powerplant Maintenance Technician and Turbojet Flight Engineer.
Duncan is a veteran in the ecommerce and technology sector, combining two decades of experience in taking industries lacking automation online for the first time. In the 90’s he launched the first Internet Service Provider in the UK at British Telecom then moved to the US to be a pioneer in the sports management, electronic procurement, and real estate spaces building multiple billion-dollar businesses. Recently, Duncan was VP Sales and Marketing at Active Network who connect event organizers to participants where he grew the business rapidly to process over 100 million orders for more than $3Bn in services worldwide. He has now turned his attention to the airline industry as President of FlighPath3D with a mission to connect one billion airline passengers to ecommerce opportunities to drive ancillary revenue. Duncan is a frequent speaker at industry events, a board advisor to small start-ups and large corporations. He is married with two children and lives in San Francisco.

Dominic James Lau
Television and Radio Presenter
Dominic James Lau is an award winning television and radio presenter making his debut on network television in 2005 and is now one of the most recognized faces on television in Asia. Commonly referred to as “Asia’s Ryan Seacrest”, he was the anchor for E! News Asia that aired on the E! Entertainment channel, which is part of the NBC Universal network. It was his role on E! News Asia that earned Dom a nomination for “Best Entertainment Presenter” at the Asian Television Awards in 2011. Prior to this, Dom spent five years with Asia’s premier music channel, Channel [V], where he was fondly referred to as “VJ Dom”. He presented a variety of shows across many different genres. Through his work on Channel [V], Dom went on to host shows on its sister channels STAR World and STAR Movies (now Fox Movies Premium), most notably STAR Movies’ V.I.P. Access; a blockbuster film review show.
As well as hosting regular TV shows Dom also has extensive experience reporting on-location from various events around the world. These range from album launches, film premiers to live events such as concerts and fashion shows. One of the major highlights in Dom’s career has been hosting “Live From The Red Carpet” at both the 79th and 81st Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood, Los Angeles for STAR Movies’ V.I.P. Access. Dom’s scope of work has extended beyond the realm of entertainment In 2011, he accepted the roll of host for “Goals on Sunday” and “Goal Zone”; weekly review shows that focus on England’s Barclay’s Premier League football, which aired on SingTel’s Mio TV in Singapore. In its inaugural year of the category, Dom was again nominated at the Asian Television Awards and took home the award for “Best Sports Presenter” in 2012. Dom would again be nominated for the same category two more times. In addition he was host of the popular game show “Showdown” for Singapore’s Channel 5 and appeared on the National Geographic Channel as an ambassador for “Earth Hour”.

Christopher is the Global Design Practice Manager for the Travel and Transportation industry with IBM. He also teaches, speaks about, and evangelizes design internationally. His spidey-sense goes off semi-randomly, leading him to investigate and speak about a range of things from interactive narrative to ethnographic user research, interaction design to generative randomness, and designing for the future. He is co-author of Make It So: Interaction Design Lessons from Science Fiction (Rosenfeld Media, 2012), co-author of About Face: The Essentials of Interaction Design, 4th Edition (Wiley, 2015) and keeper of the blog scifiinterfaces.com. He is currently working on a new book about the user experience of agentive AI (Rosenfeld Media, 2016.)
Senior Vice President, Marketing
Shane O’Hare was appointed as Senior Vice President, Marketing at Etihad Airways in November 2014. He is responsible for developing and implementing the airline’s global marketing strategy and also focuses on core functions such as brand management, communications, product and service development, and sales and distribution strategies.
With an unrivaled mix of experience in airline marketing and management, Mr O’Hare has held a range of senior executive positions in the Gulf and internationally. He started his career with Qantas Airways, before founding Seair Pacific, a regional airline and tourist operation.
After selling that business and completing an MBA at Bond University, he joined Ansett Australia. Over a seven year period, he helped the airline build its international presence and service offering, culminating in Ansett’s entry into Star Alliance. Mr O’Hare was then appointed as the global alliance’s first Director of Marketing.
In 2002, Mr O’Hare moved to the Kingdom of Bahrain, where he spent five years as Head of Marketing at Gulf Air, before taking on the role of President and CEO at Royal Jet, the largest private jet company in the Middle East. Over a seven year period, he helped to develop Royal Jet into one of the most successful private jet brands in the world.

Babar Rahman is responsible for driving Global Sponsorships and Inflight Entertainment/Connectivity strategy at Qatar Airways. In his role managing IFEC, Qatar Airways relaunched the Inflight Entertainment as ’Oryx One’, enhanced content selection process to have one of the highest on-board content refresh rates and introduced content promotion strategies, increased connectivity usage, introduced the region-first on-board Wi-Fi sponsorship and successfully implemented several key Inflight Entertainment projects for the award-winning airline’s vast fleet and related systems.
He is keeping Qatar Airways at the forefront of Inflight Entertainment/Connectivity through collaboration with several key internal/external stakeholders to introduce innovative technologies and products which drive maximum value for the airline from existing and future IFEC projects.
Dr. Kiran Rao
EVP Strategy and Marketing
Dr. Kiran Rao is appointed on the 1st of November 2012 as EVP Strategy and Future Programmes. He will maintain his current role of EVP Sales and Marketing. Prior to this appointment as EVP Sales and Marketing in 2008, he was Executive Vice President Marketing and Contracts from January 2006, Senior Vice President Marketing & Pricing Policies from October 2004 and worked from September 2000 to 2004 as Vice President of Sales for South Asia and Africa.
Dr. Rao began his professional career with a spell in the Aerodynamics Department of British Aerospace at Hatfield from 1988-89, working on flight-control systems. Dr. Rao then joined British Aerospace’s Marketing Group, working on sales campaigns in India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
He joined Airbus in December 1992 as Airline Marketing Manager. In August 1994 he was promoted to Director of Airline Marketing for Airbus Industrie of North America (AINA), based near Washington DC. Dr. Rao was appointed President of Airbus Industrie India in April 1996, based in the Indian capital city, Delhi. Dr. Rao was then promoted to Vice President of Sales for South Asia and Africa in September 2000.
Dr. Rao was born in Bangalore in December 1963 and his primary education was at Bishop Cotton High School in the city. A secondary education at Chatham House Grammar School in the UK was followed by a BSc degree in Aeronautical Engineering at City University of London from 1982-85. His studies continued, also at City University, sponsored by British Aerospace (now BAE Systems) at Hatfield, on a PhD in transonic aerodynamics from 1985-88.

Dr. Rickenbacher studied at the University of St. Gallen, receiving a degree in Business Education and Educational Management (mag. oec HSG) as well as a Promotion Degree (ph D. oec. HSG). Professional career as a Scientific Employee at the Institut of Business Education and Educational Management, University of St. Gallen. Lectureship at the Commercial School, St. Gallen. He joined Kuoni Travel AG as a Vice-Director in 1990, eventually becoming the Director of Incoming Services before moving on to Jelmoli as Vice-President Management Services, Director and Member of the Corporate Management. He joined USM-Group as the Head of Senior Management of U. Schärer Söhne and became the Chief Operating Officer of the USM-Group in 2002.
Since 2003 Dr. Rickenbacher has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Lantal Textiles Group as well as Partner and Delegate of the Board of Lantal Textiles Group.
Stephan has almost 10 years of experience in the aviation industry, with a focus on inflight entertainment and connectivity, plus several years in other industries. Previously, he served as an engineer for rail vehicles for Siemens’ North American market and was a researcher in the automotive industry at the Institute of Electrical Machines, Aachen University of Technology. His aviation roles include Head of Aircraft Production Inspection for Lufthansa Technik (Hamburg, Toulouse, Seattle, Charleston); Strategy Manager for Aircraft Base Maintenance and Modification for Lufthansa Technik (Hamburg); Project Manager for Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity, Lufthansa Technik (Hamburg). He serves as Co-Chairman of EUROCAE/RTCA WG99/SC234 on “new guidelines for PEDs on board commercial airplanes” for the Lufthansa Group.
He has authored more than 15 scientific publications including class A/peer-reviewed journal contributions, made various presentations worldwide about simulation methods in electrical engineering as well as design, certification and installation for inflight entertainment and connectivity systems at APEX events and other industry conferences worldwide. Stephan has also served as a Professor for Electrical Engineering at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, given lectures in at the aforementioned University as well as Aachen University of Technology, MIT (Cambridge, MA), WEMPEC (Madison, WI) and and KMITNB (Bangkok).

Mark Schwartz serves as President of the design consultancy practice within Telefonix PDT, the aerospace team within Telefonix®, Inc. that is responsible for developing and manufacturing hardware solutions for the Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) market. More than twenty years ago, he founded Product Development Technologies (PDT) where he grew the business into a full service product development firm with over 120 employees and more than 1000 awards for its work. PDT was twice named to INC 500’s Fastest Growing Companies List and has become one of the premier product development firms serving the world’s largest and most innovative companies. Al. St. Germain is senior vice president of global marketing for Spafax. In this role, Al oversees the global management of the Spafax brand including digital marketing, creative development, events, sponsorships, media and communications. He also currently serves as the Publisher of APEX Experience Media, produced by Spafax on behalf of APEX.
Al joined Spafax in 2009 as vice president, USA, to oversee the company’s inflight entertainment management and operations in Orange County, California. Over the next five years, the Spafax Orange County team in California doubled in size, with major growth in both airline accounts and technical services capabilities.
Al has significant experience within the airline industry, having served in marketing positions at both Delta Air Lines and United. Furthermore, he managed major airline brand identity projects during his time at noted WPP agency Landor Associates.

Thomas Steiner owns a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Bern, Switzerland. Professional career at Cisco Systems Inc. in San Jose, Califonia, as a Research & Development Engineer and Manager. After starting his own Internet Company in San Francisco, Thomas returned to Switzerland and joined Lantal Textiles AG as a Vice President in 2014. He is responsible for Lantal’s Pneumatic Comfort Systems division.
Amy Tan launched and leads Orbis Singapore. Orbis is a global nonprofit organization and a pioneer in eye health for more than 30 years and across 92 countries. Orbis works in developing countries to prevent and treat blindness. Orbis Singapore was established in 2014 to better serve urgent eye care needs in Asia.
Prior to Orbis, Amy was the Executive Director and a founding member of WINGS, a non-profit health and wealth education center especially for older women in Singapore and Hong Kong.
Before WINGS, Amy managed health promotion programs for the Abu Dhabi government in the United Arab Emirates. Prior to that, she tracked terrorism and health risks across 19 Asian countries for multinational clients.
Amy started her career in the media working as a business and science correspondent for Reuters, a news producer for CNBC Asia television and a reporter for a technology magazine.
Outside of work, Amy has served as a board member and a volunteer in health and women’s NGOs for more than a decade. She currently volunteers with a Singapore Community Development Council, the Media Development Agency, and a non-profit leaders networking group, The Light. Amy won the MediaCorp “Singapore Woman Award” in 2010 for her
outstanding achievements as a woman under the age of 40 in the charity sector.

With a strong focus on (product) innovation, she possesses commercial and operational skills, combining strategic vision with execution. As the SVP of Customer Experience at KLM, Ryanne is responsible for the whole customer experience at all touch points within KLM.

President and CEO as of 1 June 2013. Mr. Vauramo joined Finnair from Cargotec, a Finnish cargo and load handling company, where he held different management position between 2007 and 2013. Before his transfer to Finnair, Mr. Vauramo was based in Hong Kong since 2010 as COO of the MacGregor Business Area. Between 1985 and 2007 Mr. Vauramo worked at Sandvik, a Swedish mining and construction company.

Product Manager, Inflight Entertainment & Content
Megan has been with American Airlines since 2015 spearheading strategy and implementation of inflight entertainment programs. She has a penchant for innovation and resourceful thinking that has helped drive the future vision, daily operation and marketing of content for the largest airline in the world.
Prior to this, Megan worked in Media Strategy at agency powerhouse OMD for clients such as Infiniti, Hilton and Wells Fargo. She also worked for Initiative+ on the Hyundai account launching its first ever cross-platform marketing program.
She has an MBA from the McCombs School of Business and a BA, with a focus in International Economics and Political Science, from UCLA.
