APEX Insight: By partnering with Dubai-based newspaper and magazine distributor Todaily, Munich-based Media Carrier broadens its catalog to include publications of interest to the Gulf’s booming tourism market. Etihad Airways is the first airline to take advantage of the partnership.

Digital content provider Media Carrier today announced that it has partnered with Todaily to add top Arabic magazines and newspapers to its digital media library, Media Box. Etihad Airways became the first airline to adopt the joint Media Carrier and Todaily offering shortly after its launch.

Established in 2003, Todaily is one of the oldest media service providers for the aviation and hotel industries in the Gulf region. The company has branches in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Qatar, and supplies newspapers and magazines to all airlines in the region.

“We can now … add top newspapers and magazines that have so far hardly been accessible for us.” – Philipp J. Jacke, Media Carrier.

This collaboration delivers valuable synergies for both companies. “We can now expand the portfolio of our sophisticated e-paper library and add top newspapers and magazines that have so far hardly been accessible for us. This valuable new content … makes our Media Box an even more attractive and indispensable service offering for hotels and airlines in the Gulf region,” said Philipp J. Jacke, managing director at Media Carrier. “Given the immense growth of tourism in the Gulf region and the cooperation with our new distribution partner Todaily, we think that there is overall a lot of potential to convince hotels and airlines of our Media Box and acquire new clients.”

“We can tap into the expertise of our new distribution colleagues in Munich and jointly offer our know-how on a global level.” – Mohammad Albader, Todaily

Todaily managing partner, Mohammad Albader, sees cross-benefits to the strategic partnership with Media Carrier which he says are of “increasing importance” to competition in a digital world. “Doing international business requires successful networking and with Media Carrier we have found our partner of choice that — thanks to long-standing expertise — has strong relationships with publishing houses in Germany, Europe and the USA as well as with tourism clients through its Media Box,” Albader said. “Just as Media Carrier can benefit from our network, we can tap into the expertise of our new distribution colleagues in Munich and jointly offer our know-how on a global level.”

Media Carrier has been actively finding ways to grow Media Box in the air and on the ground. Late last year, the company put together a selection of 430 Swiss and international titles which became available for SWISS customers to download at 10 of the airline’s lounges in Zurich and Geneva airports.
