The Crystal Cabin Award Announces Special New PaxEx Category

APEX Insight: The Crystal Cabin Award Association has launched a new category, ‘Best Customer Journey Experience’, aimed at passenger-focused products including air travel-related smartphone apps and applications that improve product management for airlines.

A collaboration between the Crystal Cabin Award (CCA) and the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) will see a special new CCA for Best Customer Journey Experience, presented at the APEX Awards during APEX EXPO and Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas, which will be colocated in Boston in September.

The new category covers all products that help to improve the air travel journey, from the initial inspiration phase through to booking, the flight itself and even post-flight. The product should offer airlines, OEMs, and/or suppliers new digital solutions that provide specific insights about the passenger experience.

“As we all know, in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) is the fastest growing sector in the aircraft interiors market, which is why we recently introduced the IFEC category to the Crystal Cabin Awards,” explained Carmen Krause, project director of the Crystal Cabin Award Association. “But visiting APEX EXPO for the last few years to scout for submissions, we have seen so many exciting digital services that don’t fit into the IFEC category.”

“At the Crystal Cabin Awards, we deal with innovations in the cabin, but we also want to promote innovative products and concepts which provide benefits to passengers when they are on the ground,” Krause continued.

Submissions for the new Crystal Cabin Award category can be completed online until the end of July. The application phase for the other eight categories, traditionally awarded every April at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, will begin shortly afterwards.
