APEX Insight: The addition of HAECO’s Vector seat to Airbus’ catalog means the Hong Kong-based seat manufacturer can offer seating solutions to linefit customers more efficiently.
Airlines have a new choice for linefit seating on the Airbus A350 XWB and A320 family aircraft. The Vector Economy seat from HAECO Cabin Solutions is now approved as an offerable supplier for passenger seating in the Airbus twin-jet catalog. HAECO and Airbus also started the offerability process for Vector Economy seating on the A320 family and for the Vector Premium seat in both the A320 and A350 families.
Airbus determines offerability in its catalogs by evaluating a supplier’s ability to reliably deliver seats to meet production line and airline customer requirements. The Vector Economy seat’s approval by Airbus will enable HAECO Cabin Solutions to present and offer seating solutions to linefit customers more efficiently.
HAECO also announced it has secured a linefit A320 launch customer for its Vector Economy seat, which it described as a “sizeable carrier in Asia.”
“With Vector, HAECO has developed a true platform-based product.” – Doug Rasmussen, HAECO Cabin Solutions
Doug Rasmussen, president and group director of HAECO Cabin Solutions, highlighted the commonality of components across its aricraft seating product lines. This could ease the manufacturing and maintenance processes and support HAECO’s efforts to expand the catalog offerability to additional seating products and aircraft families. “With Vector, HAECO has developed a true platform-based product, which shares many parts and features between the Economy and Premium versions of the seat,” he said.
“Adding linefit offerability demonstrates the trust Airbus has placed in HAECO Cabin Solutions to deliver this seat platform to linefit customers with tighter lead times.” – Doug Rasmussen, HAECO Cabin Solutions
Rasmussen continued, “Adding linefit offerability demonstrates the trust Airbus has placed in HAECO Cabin Solutions to deliver this seat platform to linefit customers with tighter lead times.” By meeting the Airbus requirements for catalog listing, HAECO joins other seating manufacturers, large and small as a choice for airlines on these aircraft as they are delivered from the assembly line.
Getting to linefit status is seen as a significant accomplishment and validation of the supply chain and manufacturing process for a component supplier. It should also ease the selection process for a supplier’s airline customers as aircraft can be delivered directly with new seats rather than requiring a costly retrofit process.
