WestJet unveiled a refreshed brand yesterday. The Canadian airline also announced its first three international Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner routes and a new WestJet Rewards Platinum tier.

WestJet’s updated brand messaging will be disseminated by a national advertising campaign, called Love Where You’re Going, which focuses on new products aimed at international and Premium travelers. The new image is reflected on WestJet’s website and will be introduced in airports and gradually across the fleet.

Ed Sims, WestJet President and CEO, also revealed yesterday that the airline will launch nonstop services on board its Boeing 787-9 aircraft from Calgary to London (Gatwick), Paris and Dublin next year, on April 28, May 17 and June 1, respectively, making it the first Canadian airline to base its Dreamliner aircraft out of Calgary International Airport.

The first of 10 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners ordered by WestJet will arrive in Calgary early next year, with two more arriving by April. The aircraft will operate on domestic flights for crew training and regulatory compliance before the first scheduled international flight in April. WestJet also has options for an additional 10 aircraft to arrive between 2020 and 2024. Hub locations and routes for the remaining seven aircraft have not yet been announced.

Sims also introduced the new WestJet Rewards Platinum tier, which will launch later this year. Platinum benefits will start at $8,000 in annual qualifying spend, and include an 8% earn rate on WestJet flights, along with a range of priority services, lounge access and the highest priority for complimentary upgrades. The threshold for Gold members will be lowered from $6000 to $5000 in annual qualifying spend.
