A new affiliation with Jamco Aero Design and Engineering (JADE) will see digEcor benefit from JADE’s expertise on retrofit projects, something that will surely increase in importance with digEcor’s acquisition of Rockwell Collins’ IFE portfolio.

digEcor has entered a partnership with Jamco Aero Design and Engineering (JADE) that will see JADE carry out retrofit programs involving digEcor’s cabin technology products in the Asia Pacific region.

The announcement was made at FTE Asia EXPO 2018 in Singapore this week and covers digEcor’s entire portfolio, including its GLIDE in-flight entertainment (IFE) system, in-seat power and cabin lighting solutions, its Cabin Management Terminal and tape replacement product.

The partnership will likely be extended to new products once digEcor completes its acquisition of Rockwell Collins’ IFE solutions. In a formal statement confirming the news following rumors at this year’s APEX EXPO in Boston, Rockwell said “This transaction is aligned with Rockwell Collins’ previously announced intent to focus its entertainment offerings on in-flight connectivity solutions vs. in-seat and overhead video IFE.” digEcor hopes the deal will be finalized by the end of this year.

David Withers, chief executive of digEcor, said, “JADE is a strong player in the Asia Pacific region and has years of Airbus and Boeing aircraft cabin modification and engineering services experience. Our first project together will see us retrofitting a Boeing 777 aircraft with digEcor’s Passenger Services Solution. The modular and integrated solution is not only cost effective for the airline, but ergonomic and easy to use for passengers.”

“We have previously worked on retrofit programs both independently and through integrators. This partnership increases the amount of opportunities available to both partners, which is good news for us both,” added Stu McGraw, digEcor’s regional sales manager, Asia Pacific. According to McGraw, digEcor and JADE are currently in negotiation for multiple other projects.

JADE is a subsidiary of Jamco Corporation, which is currently involved in the future cabin for the Asian market (FUCAM) consortium as part of Europe’s Horizon 2020 program.
