Flame Distribution partners with UK production company Entertain Me Productions to bring 44 new titles to airlines around the globe, including  several timely documentaries.

Known for their knack for picking fun, educational, hot-topic in-flight entertainment (IFE) content, Flame Distribution got real “real” again this week with the announcement of the acquisition of a 44-title content package UK-based documentary purveyor, Entertain Me Productions. Featuring titles in a wide array of genres including sports, music, lifestyle, biographies and more, the deal gives Flame exclusive rights to sell Entertain Me’s titles worldwide.

“These titles feature some of the world’s biggest celebrities from the music, theatre and sports industries. [Not to mention] the royal family and iconic figures such as Greta Thunberg,” said Flame’s SVP Acquisitions, UK, Europe & North America, Phil Barnsdall-Thompson, who brokered the deal.

Aside from the new, hour-long Thunberg documentary, Greta Thunberg: The Voice of the Future, which tells the incredible true-life tale of how the actions of one Swedish teenager on a hunger strike went on to inspire a global movement for climate change, the package also includes a number of musical bios as well.

Giving viewers the ultimate backstage pass into the lives and loves of some of the biggest recording artists of all time, the Entertain Me series features documentaries on everyone from Jim Morrison, ABBA, Freddie Mercury, Elton John, Cher, Lady Gaga and George Michael to Ariana Grande and Amy Winehouse.

Another topical biography on tap with this new deal is The Harvey Weinstein Scandal — an hour-long examination of the rise and fall of Hollywood media mogul Harvey Weinstein. With the Weinstein trial unfolding this week in New York City, this title too should prove to be another hot-off-the-presses barn-burner for Flame.

Although Weinstein was eventually expelled from the Motion Picture Academy after multiple allegations of assault and sexual harassment, Weinstein-produced films scored a whopping 81 Oscar-wins during his tenure at Miramax Films and, later, The Weinstein Company. Scandal takes a deep dive into the dark side of Weinstein’s reign as Oscar’s golden boy by shining a bright light on the more than three decades of abuse perpetuated by Weinstein and other powerful men in pre-#MeToo Hollywood.

Other topical biographies include a new, one-hour documentary on Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo. With over 61 individual awards to his name, including a record-breaking five Ballons d’Or, Ronaldo has become the second most award-winning player in football history, and now passengers will get a first-hand glimpse at how it happened. Entitled Cristiano Ronaldo: the One and Only, the documentary chronicles Ronaldo’s inspiring journey from impoverished football prodigy to becoming one of the greatest players of all time.
