The Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) has agreed to acquisition terms for the purchase of global events, media and innovation hub company Future Travel Experience (FTE) in order to bring FTE under APEX’s nonprofit direction.

Building on a strong four-year partnership, FTE is to be fully integrated with APEX to reach new levels of airline engagement and supplier participation while increasing the value the association provides to the entire air travel industry, both in-the-air and on-the-ground. The news follows APEX’s acquisition of the International Flight Services Association (IFSA) in 2017.

Once the acquisition is finalized, APEX’s leadership structure will remain the same, with founder of FTE Daniel Coleman reporting to APEX/IFSA CEO Joe Leader and then to the APEX Board of Directors. Leader stated, “The idea for this approach came from the APEX Board of Directors strategic planning session early last year. Combining the power of APEX, IFSA, and FTE together furthers our ability to inspire global airline stakeholders to accelerate the advancement of the future of airline travel experience and in-flight service.”

Founder of FTE Daniel Coleman stated, “By teaming up, we can strengthen and amplify our respective propositions greatly. There remains a tremendous, real opportunity now to consolidate and build mega-events together in the territories of Asia-Pacific, EMEA, and the Americas to better serve our global industry.”

In terms of events, APEX EXPO, APEX MultiMedia Market (MMM) and APEX TECH will continue as before, while APEX will make the FTE EMEA / FTE Ancillary event in June its thought-leadership event for Europe, Middle East and Africa. APEX members are also encouraged to join FTE events around the globe, including FTE Global, FTE Asia EXPO and the FTE Innovation & Startup Hub, which invests resources into finding startups and engaging with other like-minded organizations driving an innovation strategy.

APEX/IFSA members will continue to see the existing price structure for existing APEX and IFSA events in addition to discounted member rates for attending FTE events around the globe.
