Moment Unveils Flymingo Next: An IoT-Enabled IFEC Hardware Platform

Moment, until recently known as Interactive Mobility, unveiled its latest in-flight entertainment and connectivity hardware platform. Flymingo Next includes two components: an integrated wireless access point (WAP) and sever, and an additional WAP to offer Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and LTE technologies.

In addition to its wireless IFE streaming capabilities, Flymingo Next incorporates Internet of Things (IoT) technology to offer services beyond IFE. The new functionality is intended to assist cabin crew and maintenance staff via a network of sensors that connect to the server.

For example, Flymingo Next will be able to automatically verify which aircraft seats are occupied and can check cabin elements such as seat belts and overhead bins. Cabin crew can then access and manage this information through a dedicated user interface.
