APEX Insight: Inmarsat Aviation and Hawaiian Airlines took part in a panel discussion at APEX TECH to coincide with the release of their second Sky-High Economics report on connected airlines to explain how connectivity can help carriers become more efficient.

Following the company’s panel discussion during APEX TECH June 2018, Inmarsat Aviation’s VP safety and operational services Captain Mary McMillan talked to APEX Media director Maryann Simson about how satellite connectivity means passengers will no longer have to suffer “lost time” while they’re flying.

In terms of the flight crew, McMillan said connectivity has evolved to allow them to make better decisions in real-time. Captain Jonathan Lee from Hawaiian Airlines went on to explain in detail how connectivity allows him to avoid bad weather – and the resulting turbulence for passengers – while saving as much fuel as possible.
