Qatar Airways Claims Industry First With “Party of Four” Business-Class QSuites

The competition to woo premium passengers is heating up, and airlines are meeting the challenge with proprietary designs. Qatar Airways’ highly anticipated business-class QSuite was revealed today at ITB Berlin, following other recently launched patented firsts including United Airlines’ Polaris business-class seat and Delta Air Lines’ fully enclosed business-class suites. With retractable privacy panels, QSuites can be joined to create a double bed or a private room for four – features Qatar Airways claims are industry firsts. “[W]e offer more choices than any other airline. It only makes sense to give you the choice to make your own cabin-within-a-cabin, creating double QSuites or quadrants,” said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker at today’s ceremony.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, APEX Media is featuring profiles of influential women in aviation to gain insight into how they navigate through a traditionally male-dominated industry. A pilot for IndiGo, Apurva Sudhakar Gilche had her first taste of flight when she was in college in Pune, India. After acquiring her commercial pilot’s license in Australia, she found there were few opportunities for pilots when returning to India, so she joined IndiGo as a flight attendant. Apurva made the transition to the flight deck, joining as junior officer, and has since gained 3,000 flying hours and multiple promotions. She is now the captain of one of the low-cost carrier’s Airbus A320s.

Dallas/Fort Worth to Open First In-Airport Emergency Care Center in US

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport will build the first in-airport emergency care center in the US. Code 3 Emergency Partners will open and operate two facilities: the first is an urgent care unit to be located near the airport’s administrative building and the second is a clinic and pharmacy inside DFW’s Terminal D.
