Clash of Opinions: Should Airbnb Launch an Airline?

Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky has thought about launching his own airline, tasking designers and product managers with developing a vision of what an Airbnb aircraft might look like. According to a report from the Information, this idea has caused disagreement with Laurence Tosi, the company’s CFO. Tosi allegedly preferred to expand Airbnb’s offering through a potential integration with Skyscanner or acquisition of Hopper. Fast Company says the story suggests the two executives have competing visions for the company, with Chesky’s being “a bit more outlandish” and Tosi’s resembling an online travel agency.
