Aeroméxico Flight Crashes in Northern Mexico

An Aeroméxico Embraer ERJ-190AR crashed moments after taking off from General Guadalupe Victoria International Airport yesterday in Durango, northern Mexico. A strong wind gust brought down Flight 2431, which was carrying 103 passengers, resulting in a blazing wreckage and dozens of injuries, but no fatalities, according to Durango state officials. The twin-engine jet’s left wing initially touched the ground before the aircraft skidded 300 meters off the runway. All passengers were evacuated using emergency slides before the aircraft was engulfed in flames.
