VIDEO: United Cabin Crew Use iPads to Provide “In the Moment Care”

United Airlines says rolling out 80,000 mobile devices to its employees has transformed the way it serves customers. Aviation Festival in London,  APEX Media director Maryann Simson caught up with Linda Jojo, United Airlines’ Chief Digital Officer and executive vice-president of Technology. Jojo explained that if passengers are upset during a flight, cabin crew can provide some form of compensation in the moment using their iPads. “We’ve found that even though something happens, because we’re able to solve it in the moment using those devices, their satisfaction is actually higher than someone who has a perfect flight,” Jojo said.

Emirates Says Drinking During Flights Is Not Prohibited

British media has been reporting that the UK government is advising British travelers to the UAE that it’s illegal to drink alcohol in the country, and even on board flights to the country. However, Emirates responded to several customers on Twitter who asked whether they risked being arrested for drinking during a flight by reiterating that drinking alcohol on board is “not prohibited.” Last month, a Swedish woman made headlines when she claimed she was arrested after drinking a glass of wine on an Emirates flight from London to Dubai, although it later emerged she tried to enter the country with an expired passport.
