Aer Lingus CEO Announces Brand Refresh and Free In-Flight Wi-Fi During APEX EXPO Keynote

Economy passengers booked on Aer Lingus flights in the first quarter of 2019 can expect a free 20MB Wi-Fi package and complimentary alcohol with meals, alongside the introduction of a brand refresh and 12 new Airbus A321neo long-range aircraft, said the airline’s chief executive officer and executive director, Stephen Kavanagh, during his keynote at APEX EXPO. The brand overhaul will include a redesigned livery and new cabin crew uniforms, Kavanagh said, noting that the latter have been the same for the last quarter century.

American Airlines Announces New Food and Headset Partnerships at APEX EXPO

American Airlines (AA) CEO Doug Parker announced today at APEX EXPO that, from December 1, 2018, passengers on domestic flights over three hours will be able to purchase food from a menu created in collaboration with Zoës Kitchen. He also revealed that, with Bose exiting the aviation market, AA has now partnered with Bang & Olufsen, whose H9i headset will be introduced in first and business class during Q2 of 2019.

Aeromexico Taps Viasat for MAX Connectivity

Aeromexico has selected Viasat’s in-flight connectivity service on board its Boeing 737 MAX fleet. The deal will see Ka-band satellite connectivity installed as linefit on 18 of the Mexican flag carrier’s narrow-bodies, plus options for installations on an additional 60 aircraft. “As Mexico’s global airline, we take great pride in ensuring our passengers have access to the latest innovations and airline comforts,” said Andres Castañeda, chief marketing officer, Aeromexico. “By bringing Viasat in-flight Internet on board, we will deliver a top-class in-flight Wi-Fi experience for our passengers.”

APEX Media participated in Lufthansa's FlyingLab APEX EXPO pre-conference on Saturday. This installment of the Lufthansa FlyingLab took place on LH Flight 424 from Munich to Boston, on board one of the airline’s recently delivered Airbus A350s. EVA Air Collaborates With BMW Designworks for Dreamliner Business-Class Seat

EVA Air will debut a new business-class cabin on board its upcoming Boeing 787 Dreamliner scheduled for delivery on October 2. The aircraft is configured with 304 seats, including 26 “Royal Laurel Class” (business class) seats and 278 economy-class seats. The new business-class seats were designed in collaboration with BMW Designworks with the aim of synchronizing the airline’s international brand image with the Dreamliner. “Our goal was to take a proven seat platform and make it unique to EVA Air,” said Johannes Lampela, design director at Designworks' LA Studio. “From privacy, service, interaction, stowage and amenities, we explored the holistic passenger experience.”

Entertainment While You Wait: Immfly Takes IFE to the Lounge

Immfly is introducing Immfly Lounge, a solution for travelers to start a movie on the ground and continue watching it using the same platform on board. A server located in the airport lounge or gate enables streaming of all types of content, with ancillary-revenue-driving options to improve what Immfly calls “day of flight” net promoter scores. Prior to boarding, Immfly Lounge will also allow travelers the opportunity to upgrade their seat, order food or drinks for on board, and shop for duty-free goods to be delivered to their home.

Global Eagle Heads North With Airconnect Go

Canadian North airline has selected Global Eagle’s Airconnect Go portable wireless streaming platform. The system will initially be deployed on four Boeing 737s, starting this month; a single piece of hardware is able to stream to more than 50 passengers. “The launch of top-notch in-flight entertainment options will further enhance our onboard experience,” said Steve Hankirk, president of Canadian North. “We’re thrilled to be working with Global Eagle to introduce this exciting new in-flight amenity.”
