Inflight Dublin and IdeaNova Join Forces, INPLAY Heads to the Cloud

Inflight Dublin and IdeaNova have announced a strategic collaboration. Under the partnership, IdeaNova’s technology, including its INPLAY product line, will be used to provide content streaming solutions for Inflight Dublin’s wireless in-flight entertainment software, Everhub. IdeaNova also launched the INPLAY Cloud Platform, a media management solution for video and audio assets, encryption keys and digital rights management licenses. The service gives customers the option to deploy the INPLAY Cloud Platform within their own IT infrastructure, in the cloud, or by using a combination of both options.

Immfly Active Portal Gives Airlines Keys to In-Flight Data

Immfly has unveiled a new analytics portal and content management service, called Immfly Active, that will launch before the end of the year. The web-based portal comprises four main services: Aircraft Health (to monitor operational status); Survey Management (to survey passengers); Content Management (to publish and manage announcements); and an Ad Server tool (to track digital marketing campaigns). It also features a dashboard that displays KPIs.

[PHOTOS] Air France Unveils New Economy and Premium Economy Cabins on A330s

Air France has unveiled new economy and premium economy cabins to be retrofitted on board 15 Airbus A330s starting next January. The economy seats will offer more space between the armrests, reinforced ergonomic foam and deep blue monochrome fabric, 31 inches of pitch and 11.7-inch seatback displays. Upgrades to the premium economy cabins will include softer seat cushions and wider leather armrests. Passengers on flights longer than eight hours 30 minutes will have access to “My Little Gourmandises” gourmet snacks on a self-service basis.

Bluebox Aviation to Offer Free Accessible IFE Upgrade for Customers

Bluebox Aviation Systems announced all customers of its iPad-based in-flight entertainment (IFE) platforms will be able to benefit from Bluebox aIFE, its APEX Award- and Crystal Cabin Award-winning IFE app for visually impaired passengers, which launched with Virgin Atlantic. Existing and future airline customers will be able to switch between standard IFE mode and accessibility mode, depending on a passenger’s needs. In other Bluebox news, Air Inuit, announced as a BlueBox WOW wireless IFE customer at APEX EXPO 2017, recently celebrated its 40th anniversary by offering complimentary IFE on the airline’s Boeing 737s and Bombardier Dash 8s.

Panasonic Avionics Secures IFEC Deals With EgyptAir and Uzbekistan Airways

EgyptAir has selected Panasonic Avionics X Series in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) platform for its new fleet of 15 Airbus A320neos. The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery in 2020 and will come linefit with satellite connectivity and 13-inch HD personal screens in business class, in addition to video handsets and in-seat power. In economy-class, each passenger will have a 10-inch HD screen incorporating a USB power point, with charging facilities at each seat group. Panasonic Avionics also secured a deal with Uzbekistan Airways to supply X Series IFEC on board three Boeing 787-8s and two Airbus A320neos.

Mahata Aero Teknologi Leads Citilink to Inmarsat’s GX Aviation Connectivity

Citilink has committed to a 10-year deal with Mahata Aero Teknologi (MAT), GMF AeroAsia (part of Garuda Indonesia Group), Lufthansa Systems and Lufthansa Technik to install Inmarsat’s GX Aviation in-flight broadband service. Installations will begin later this year on the Indonesian low-cost carrier’s fleet of 50 Airbus A320 aircraft. “In addition to Inmarsat, Lufthansa Systems and Lufthansa Technik, we are delighted to welcome GMF AeroAsia to this important project," said Iwan Setiawan, managing director of PT Mahata Aero Teknologi.

True Blue Powers Up Dash 8 and Q400 Emergency Lighting

True Blue Power has introduced its new TS60 Series Emergency Battery Power Supply to its line of advanced lithium-ion batteries. Designed as a drop-in replacement for legacy nickel-cadmium alternatives, the TS60 has received a Supplemental Type Certificate from Transport Canada for installation in all Bombardier DHC-8s, including the Dash 8 Series 100, 200, 300 and Q400 aircraft. The battery is designed to provide at least 30 minutes of power – and even more than 40 minutes – to the twin-turboprop’s emergency lighting system, depending on the selected cell configuration in the TS60.
