Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said that his commercial space company, Blue Origin, is his most important project. Speaking at Wired’s 25th anniversary summit in San Francisco on Monday, Bezos predicted that one trillion humans would one day live across the solar system. “I won't be alive to see the fulfillment of that long-term mission,” he said. “We are starting to bump up against the absolute true fact that Earth is finite.” Bezos also announced he will spend more than $1 billion in the next year to support Blue Origin.

Could World’s First Electric Passenger Flights Launch on Scottish Islands?

Electric-powered air travel services could launch on Scotland’s Orkney Islands within three years. Loganair is working with Cranfield Aerospace to use electric-powered aircraft to operate its 1.7-mile service between the islands of Westray and Papa Westray by 2021. The airline would modify its existing Islander aircraft rather than develop a new model from scratch. The entire journey takes about two minutes, including taxiing. “It might end up being the first in the world. I'm not aware of any companies with similar plans at the moment,” said Loganair managing director Jonathan Hinkles.
