Flame Distribution Adds 65 Hours of Non-Fiction Content

Flame Distribution recently acquired a package of 65 hours of factual content from Mediacorp. The deal gives Flame exclusive rights to sell Mediacorp's titles in the Middle East and North Africa region. Titles include This Weekend (a travel guide for off-the-grid locations around Asia), How to Raise a Super Baby and The Successors.

[PHOTOS] Air Tahiti Nui Launches First of Four Dreamliners

Air Tahiti Nui celebrated the first of four Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners entering service last month with an event at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) last Thursday. The newly added Moana (“ocean”) premium economy class features 32 Zodiac Aerospace Z535 seats in a 2-3-2 arrangement, while the Poerava ("black pearl") business class features 30 lie-flat Rockwell Collins seats in a 2-2-2 configuration.

Virgin Atlantic Pilots Extend Strike Action

Following its latest announcement of strikes, the Professional Pilots Union (PPU) within Virgin Atlantic has announced an extension of strikes through March 2019. The PPU is striking over union recognition and the benefits program that is set to be changed. “Our priority is to ensure that our customers can complete their travel plans this Christmas,” a spokesperson for the airline said. “We’ve secured additional aircraft that, if required, will provide extra capacity.”

Eurowings’ Startup Snack Selection Pops With Innovation

Following an announcement in April to introduce new food products from startups on board, Eurowings, Retail inMotion and NX-FOOD have selected four “wintertime” snacks: Wildcorn popcorn, Bitebox nut and dried-fruit mixes, Berwork sausage and Dörrwerk fruit paper. The group will add and remove items every quarter based on sales figures and customer feedback. “As a very innovative airline, we are delighted to offer four innovative startups a chance to prove their products during a three-month test period on Eurowings flights,” said Katrin Rieger, vice-president of Customer Experience and Product at Eurowings.

Now Flying: Thales AVANT on New SIA A350-900s

Singapore Airlines (SIA) features Thales' AVANT in-flight entertainment system on board its new medium-haul Airbus A350-900 aircraft, which began operations earlier this week. The aircraft’s business-class seats are outfitted with 17-inch high-definition touch screens and accompanying handsets, while economy-class seats are equipped with 11.6-inch touchscreen monitors – both feature a user experience custom designed for SIA. “Singapore Airlines leads the industry in aircraft innovation, and we are proud to be partnering with them to create the ultimate in-flight experience for their customers,” said Philippe Carette, CEO, Thales InFlyt Experience.

[PHOTOS] Tender Loving Care: Popeyes Launches “Emotional Support Chicken” Packaging

Travelers passing through Philadelphia International Airport can purchase chicken tenders served in an "Emotional Support Chicken" box from the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in Terminal C. "We appreciate how comforting emotional support animals are and wanted to create our own version,” said Hope Diaz, Popeyes’ chief marketing officer. “The good news is that our emotional support chicken is permitted to fly without any restrictions.”

[VIDEO] Light Show on an easyJet Airplane at Luton

London Luton Airport teamed up with easyJet to project a holiday light show on one of the airline’s Airbus A320 aircraft to celebrate the airport’s 80th anniversary. A team of 10 special effects artists and lighting designers spent four weeks preparing the show, which featured over 850,000 choreographed light sequences and 1.5 miles of LED micro-bulbs.
