Comtrade Group Opens PaxEx-Focused Division

Comtrade Group has launched a stand-alone travel and mobility division, Voyego, focused on helping airlines and ground mobility organizations improve the passenger experience. The division will deliver mobile apps, responsive websites and innovative payment solutions to its airline customers. It will also enable airlines to generate ancillary revenue using its Adnexa platform, which provides targeted advertising content through channels including boarding passes and in-flight entertainment.

Boeing Secures $15 Billion Worth of Aircraft Orders During Trump’s Vietnam Visit

Boeing secured lucrative aircraft orders worth up to $15.7 billion from two Vietnamese carriers during Donald Trump’s visit to the country. VietJet placed an order for 100 Boeing 737 MAXs, doubling its order book for the aircraft type, following a 2016 deal with Boeing for 100 of the narrow-body jets. The deal is valued at $12.7 billion and consists of 80 MAX 10s and 20 MAX 8s. Meanwhile, upstart carrier Bamboo Airways ordered 10 787-9 Dreamliners, worth a combined $3 billion at list prices.

Seamless Air Alliance Reports Five-Fold Membership Increase in First Year

The Seamless Air Alliance announced five new members during this week’s World Mobile Congress in Barcelona. Since its first meeting in June last year, which was co-located with APEX TECH in Los Angeles, it has seen a five-fold increase in its membership, growing to 23 companies. The alliance was formed by founding members Airbus, Airtel, Delta Air Lines, OneWeb and Sprint at last year’s World Mobile Congress.

Interactive Mobility Develops Passenger Announcement Pause Function for Wireless IFE

Interactive Mobility has unveiled proprietary technology that pauses in-flight entertainment content streaming for passenger announcements without crew or pilot intervention. The feature is now available on any of the company’s Flymingo boxes connected to an aircraft’s electrical network and works by picking up signals from the passenger announcement system. “This is a long-awaited product feature. Airlines came to us because they wanted a fully automatized way to comply with passenger announcement regulations,” said Tanguy Morel, Interactive Mobility’s CEO.

Turkish Airlines Unveils New Bedding for Business Class

Turkish Airlines has introduced new bedding for business-class passengers on intercontinental flights. The carrier partnered with Zorlu Textiles Group and garnered feedback from passengers to create the Flow Sleeping Set. The double-sided quilt’s lightweight material and soft texture is designed to support air circulation and maintain a consistent body temperature. The mattress provides improved padding and support, while the pillows are shaped for comfortable sitting and sleeping on lie-flat seats.

Embraer Shareholders Approve JV With Boeing

Boeing and Embraer’s proposed tie-up has been approved by Embraer’s shareholders. During a meeting at the company’s headquarters in Brazil, 96.8% of all valid votes were cast in favor of the proposed joint venture with Boeing, which will comprise Embraer’s commercial aircraft and services operations. Boeing will hold an 80% stake in the JV, while Embraer will control the remaining 20%.

Air France Launches New First-Class Amenity Kit

Air France has released a new amenity kit for passengers in its first-class La Première cabins. The French carrier partnered with Albéa Travel Designer to create the imitation leather-finish, magnetic-clasped bags, which are available in two colors: “Iced Mocha” and “French Grey.” The kits contain products from French cosmetics brand Carita, including a facial moisturizing cream, an eye care product, anti-aging hand serum and a cream for the eyes and lips. Other items contained in the kit include a comb, a night mask, earplugs, earphone covers and a pen featuring Air France's emblem.
