JetBlue to Announce Transatlantic Plans

Ahead of an official announcement, Australian Business Traveller has reported that JetBlue Airways is to imminently reveal its plans for transatlantic flights to London using Airbus A321LRs. The outlet has said the aircraft will be equipped with a Mint “premium” business class offering boasting a fully-flat bed, direct aisle access and a sliding privacy door for every passenger. The move will see JetBlue compete against top-tier international airlines from British Airways and Virgin Atlantic to US carriers American, Delta and United to capture traffic flying to Europe from North America.

Lufthansa Takes First Step to Selling LSG

A company spokesperson has confirmed that Lufthansa has made the first formal step toward selling catering unit LSG, which generated €3.2 billion in revenue in 2018 and employs a total of 35,000 staff. “With this step, potential investors are being invited to make their bids,” the spokesperson continued. According to Reuters UK, people familiar with the subject said in March that Austria’s DO & CO and Switzerland’s gategroup are expected to make offers for LSG’s European operations.

Guillaume Faury Takes On Airbus CEO Role

Airbus announced today that Guillaume Faury has been formally appointed CEO, replacing Tom Enders who held the role since 2012. Airbus’ board of directors named Faury, previously the president of Airbus Commercial Aircraft, as the next CEO last October. “I look forward to working with our great teams and shaping the Airbus of tomorrow, to better serve our customers, increase our competitiveness, and grow in a sustainable way,” Faury said.

LATAM Introduces Teatrix Originals to IFE

Spafax has engineered a new partnership between LATAM Airlines and streaming service Teatrix. Tthe LATAM Play in-flight entertainment system now features Teatrix Originals, a selection of new theatre plays from Argentina and Brazil that will be rotated every month from a catalog of over 100 titles. “We’re thrilled to help LATAM be the first airline in the region to offer Teatrix on board," commented Santiago Edelberg, Spafax IFE account director, LATAM.

Flame Distribution Launches 240 Hours of New Content Ahead of APEX MMM

Flame Distribution is heading into next week’s APEX Multi Media Market, with over 240 hours of fresh content from around the globe. The titles run the gamut from breezy lifestyle and reality series to truly out-there documentaries like America’s Most Unusual Festivals – which explores the craziest annual celebrations in the US – and Does it Fart?, a science series for kids about passing gas. “Flame is always looking to bring niche, esoteric content … to light as our buyers have told us that their customers no longer want the same genres [and] appreciate more range and diverse content when they travel,” said Thomas Gould, Flame’s VP of Sales.

Qatar Releases Updated BRIC’S Amenity Kits

In a continuation of its partnership with BRIC’s, Qatar Airways has released updated versions of its female and male amenity kits for first- and business-class passengers traveling on its long-haul flights. The kits feature the same Castello Monte Vibiano Vecchio skincare products as before, but for the first time, the first-class kit for females, which is available in two colors, contains an adjustable strap that transforms it into a contemporary cross-body bag.

Austrian Looks to Expand CleverTogether Community Portal for Travel Tips

Austrian Airlines will extend the availability of its CleverTogether in-flight community travel portal in the next couple of months, with other members of the Lufthansa Group to consider its implementation by the end of this year. The platform, which allows passengers to share knowledge and tips about their destination, is currently available on 31 of Austrian’s Airbus aircraft via the FlyNet in-flight connectivity system.

We’re looking for new and/or significant information and will review each submission based on: creativity and appeal, cutting-edge information and expertise of the speaker.  You must fill out the entire online form and submit a bio to be considered. Be sure to submit your proposal by Friday to be considered to speak at our largest annual event!
