The company says technology improvements will result in better quality overall. "As we identify and reduce second-layer inspections for stable processes, quality assurance professionals will be redeployed and take on new roles such as leading and supporting efforts to prevent defects and rework," Boeing said in a statement.

From February 17, 2020, EVA Air will replace the Boeing 777-300ER flying between Taipei and Vancouver with its new Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The Dreamliner is currently the only one in EVA Air’s fleet equipped with its all-new seat product in business class, which was developed by BMW Designworks. However, the aircraft change also means premium economy seats will no longer be available on the route. As a result, the carrier is allowing affected passengers to travel on alternative transpacific routes or to be rebooked on the same flight.
