Boeing Says 737 MAX Software Update Is Complete

Boeing said it has completed a software update for the 737 MAX and is now planning to work with the FAA to schedule a certification flight. Nearly 400 737 MAX aircraft have been grounded since mid-March, following the crash of an Ethiopian Airlines flight. Boeing said it has flown the 737 MAX with updated software for 360 hours on 207 flights and has provided revised training for pilots of the aircraft.

ANA Partners With Panasonic to Test Self-Driving Electric Wheelchairs at Narita

All Nippon Airways and Panasonic have started testing self-driving electric wheelchairs at Tokyo Narita International Airport. The wheelchairs incorporate robotic elements and tracking capabilities that enable them to navigate autonomously through the airport, while detecting and avoiding people and obstacles. "ANA's partnership with Panasonic will make Narita Airport more welcoming and accessible, both of which are crucial to maintaining the airport's status as a hub for international travel in the years to come,” said Juichi Hirasawa, senior vice-president of ANA.

Amazon Launches Flight Booking Platform on Its Indian Website

Amazon has introduced a flight search and booking platform on its Indian website. The service is only for flights within India and its powered by Cleartrip, a domestic online travel agency based in Mumbai. The service is available through the Amazon Pay, which also allows users to buy gift vouchers and pay for utility bills. Airlines including Vistara, GoAir, SpiceJet, and Indigo are among the carriers offering flights through the service.

Linstol Launches In-Flight Cup That’s More Eco-Friendly Than Other Paper Cups

Linstol’s Super Cup is lined with a calcium carbonate substrate called EarthCoating and is made with 51 per cent less plastic than its more common polyethylene-lined counterpart. Once sent to the proper processing facility, the paper part of the cup is 100 percent recyclable. The company expects the Super Cup to make it onto aircraft this summer, said Bill Carrejo, Linstol’s director of Sales and Sustainability.

IAG to Order Four Airbus A321neos for Iberia Express

IAG is to place an order for four Airbus A321neos that it will deploy with Iberia Express as of April next year. The re-engined aircraft will be configured with 232 seats in a two-cabin layout, including Recaro’s SL3510 seat in economy class and the Collins Aerospace Pinnacle seat in business class. “They will undoubtedly help us to consolidate further the value proposition to our customers,” said Iberia Express CEO Fernando Candela.

EVA Air Launches New Premium Economy Amenity Kits

EVA Air has introduced a new unisex amenity kit in partnership with Galileo Watermark and Sport b for passengers flying in its premium economy cabin. The kit features a black twill bag, with a tonal logo print and minimalist styling, that contains an eye mask, a dental kit with White Glo toothpaste, earplugs, a comb, and a lip balm and hydrator from British brand Scaramouche + Fandango.
