Thales Partners With Micro-X to Develop More Efficient Airport Security X-Ray Machines

Thales has launched a partnership with Micro-X to develop X-ray imaging systems that use carbon nanotubes (CNT) and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the efficiency of the airport security screening process. Both companies say that CNT X-ray screening will eliminate the need for travelers to wait in lines, open their bags, and remove electronic devices and liquids. “From airport checkpoints to counter terrorism activities to future medical-imaging devices, Thales and Micro-X are on the edge of a historically decisive moment,” said Jean-Jacques Guittard, Thales’ vice-president, Microwave and Imaging Sub-Systems. “This partnership will give us a technological leap no one else can offer.”
