Watch and Learn: In-Flight Language Lessons

Learning a language in flight isn’t a new idea, but passengers could soon benefit from narrative video as a way of doing so. Rakuten-owned service Viki streams a library of licensed content that viewer-volunteers can subtitle themselves and add back onto the platform. Then, using Learn Mode, others can watch the content with both native-language and original-language subtitles at once. While Viki hasn’t found its way on board just yet, Immfly’s ongoing collaboration with Rakuten means it can’t be ruled out.
