Hong Kong International Airport Cancels All Flights as Protesters Occupy Terminal

Hong Kong International Airport canceled all departures on Monday, as thousands of anti-government demonstrators occupied the arrival and departure halls in the main terminal. More than 160 departures and more than two dozen arrivals have been affected, according to the airport’s website. Cathay Pacific also warned its employees that they could lose their jobs if they “support or participate in illegal protests” in Hong Kong. On Friday, China ordered the airline to suspend workers who support the protests. Cathay subsequently fired two employees and suspended one pilot.

Ryanair also reported that the number of customers making voluntary offset payments has nearly doubled in the past 18 months.
