Touch Inflight and CastLabs Form JV to Deliver IFE Content From ABOVE

Touch Inflight Solutions and castLabs have formed a joint venture to partner on a cloud-based platform that performs the encoding, storage distribution and delivery of video and metadata. Called ABOVE, the platform aims to solve many of the inefficiencies of delivering in-flight entertainment content to airlines by applying over-the-top market best practices. Touch Inflight founder and managing director, Joe Carreira, said that castLabs’ previous work with Lufthansa Systems’ BoardConnect solution convinced him of “the efficiencies and drastic cost and timeline reductions that ABOVE can bring to the whole industry.”

Salty, Sweet and Sustainable at IFSA EXPO 2019

The biggest trend at IFSA this year had less to do with the food or drink products on offer, but rather how they were made. Suppliers went out of their way to highlight their behind-the-scenes efforts to keep their products healthy, delicious and above all else, eco-friendly. Some of the vendors showcasing in-flight catering options with a sustainable edge included alter eco, Sevillo Fine Foods and Emmi Roth. “The influx of technology has a lot to do with why people care so much more about what they eat right now … I think passengers want to know what they’re eating is being made by people who love to do it and who make sure that it’s good, not just for people, but for the world,” said Emily King, marketing specialist at Emmi Roth.
