[PHOTOS] Fiji Airways Unveils Airbus A350 Cabin Interiors

Fiji Airways unveiled images of the new business- and economy-class cabins in its first of two Airbus A350s, which is scheduled for delivery in November. The cabin has 33 lie-flat seats, which are a modified version of Collins Aerospace’s Super Diamond design and will be deployed in a 1-2-1 layout. The 301 Recaro CL3710 economy-class seats are configured in a standard 3-3-3 layout with dark green seat covers. The aircraft is also equipped with in-flight Wi-Fi.

BA to Offset Carbon Emissions on Domestic Flights

British Airways will offset carbon emissions from all domestic flights, starting next year. The announcement follows BA’s parent company IAG’s pledge to commit to net-zero carbon flying by 2050. IAG’s CEO Willie Walsh said the company would primarily achieve its net-zero target through offsetting, and its airlines would also reduce carbon emissions by using sustainable fuels and replacing older aircraft.

Pork Substitute Takes Flight Aboard Cathay Pacific

Hong-Kong based airline Cathay Pacific is bringing the plant-based trend to the skies this month with the launch of a vegan bolognese made with OmniPork, one of a growing number of meat-alternatives on the market. It will be served with garganelli pasta throughout the month of October to passengers seated in business class on long-haul flights departing from Hong Kong.

True Blue Power Launches Next-Gen USB Charging Port

True Blue Power launched a USB power delivery (USB-PD) charging port that uses fast-charging technology, which it claims will offer four times more power than many other USB-A and USB-C chargers. The TA360 Series USB-PD charging port is intended to be a future-proof solution that delivers 60 watts of power per port and can be used to charge PD-compatible smartphones, tablets, electronic flight bags and laptops. “Adding this advanced USB-PD technology to our product line ensures pilots, passengers and crew have access to cutting-edge, in-flight USB power now and well into the future,” said Erik Ritzman, director of True Blue Power.

Jazeera Airways Introduces a Premium Economy Cabin on Select Long-Haul Flights

Jazeera Airways unveiled a new premium economy product, which provides passengers with additional services and a 40 kg checked baggage allowance on select long-haul flights. The cabin’s seats have 31 inches of pitch and the middle seat is kept free to increase space for passengers sitting on either side. Customers will also benefit from dedicated check-in counters, priority boarding and complimentary in-flight meals.

Qantas to Remove Frequent Flyer Numbers From Boarding Passes

Qantas said it will no longer include frequent flyer numbers on boarding passes in order to protect customer privacy in an era where passengers often post images of their travel documents on social media platforms. However, travelers will maintain bragging rights as boarding passes will still display frequent flyer status.

HAECO Cabin Solutions Expands ODA Team

HAECO Cabin Solutions announced it has expanded its Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) team, by appointing Meredith Frazier, who is qualified to work as a cabin safety unit member. “We expanded our ODA team to better serve our customers and to ensure the highest levels of safety are implemented,” said Jose Pevida, senior vice-president of Engineering and Product Development at HAECO Cabin Solutions. “Expanding our ability to certify, test and approve the installation of our products increases our bandwidth.”
