Heathrow’s Third Runway Delayed By a Year

The estimated completion of London Heathrow Airport’s third runway has been pushed back by a year following a decision by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to not grant the airport’s request to increase spending on early construction costs by approximately $850 million. The CAA said limiting costs is in the best interests of passengers, who could end up paying higher airport charges should Heathrow not end up receiving planning permission for its expansion project. The runway is now expected to be completed between early 2028 and late 2029.
