UK Appeals Court Blocks Heathrow Expansion

Construction on a third runway at Heathrow will not be continued as planned after the UK Court of Appeal sided with a group consisting of environmental charities and London’s mayor Sadiq Khan. The landmark ruling was based on the plan’s incompatibility with the Paris Agreement. The government needs to go back to the drawing board should it wish to get the runway approved, but said it will not appeal against the verdict. The airport does plan on taking the case to the supreme court.
