CDC Mandates COVID Testing for International Arrivals to US

Yesterday the CDC announced a new policy for inbound travelers to the US that requires them to test negative for COVID-19 before boarding their flight. The test must not be more than three days old and refusal to comply will result in being denied boarding. The CDC hopes that the measure, which will be enforced from January 26, will reduce the likelihood of spreading the disease “on planes, in airports and at destinations” when combined with mask-wearing and social distancing. While industry trade groups have been asking for testing programs to replace country-specific entry restrictions, the latter remain in place.

Hudson Airport Stores Bet on Cashier-Less Tech

Dallas Love Field Airport’s Hudson convenience store will be the first to be converted into a “Hudson Nonstop” location once Amazon’s “Just Walk Out” technology is incorporated in the first quarter of this year. Other locations will follow. The concept allows customers to grab the items they want and have their credit cards charged automatically once they leave. “Today’s traveller is progressively more connected, mobile and time sensitive – and they have higher expectations for convenience, safety and speed during their shopping experiences,” noted Brian Quinn, EVP and chief operating officer at Hudson.
