Australia To Implement Compensation Scheme For Delayed, Canceled Flights

Australia might soon implement a 'Pay on Delay' compensation scheme for travelers facing flight delays or cancellations, similar to the EU261 and UK261 regulations. While details of the conditions and compensation amounts are yet to be disclosed, the scheme could align with European standards, providing payouts between $400 and $1000 based on the flight's distance and delay length. Allowances are likely to be made for factors outside of an airline's control. The bill also seeks to ensure that tickets guarantee a specific flight, destination, and time, aiming for improved reliability and customer satisfaction.
