Glasgow Airport Hydrogen Hub To Support Zero-Emission Flight By 2027

Glasgow Airport in Scotland, in collaboration with the Ikigai Group and supported by the Scottish government's Hydrogen Innovation Scheme, aims to establish a hydrogen hub to enable zero-emission flights by 2027. A feasibility study is underway to find efficient, sustainable hydrogen production, storage, and refueling solutions, with plans to start development in 2024. This initiative, showcased at a summit at the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland, seeks to serve as a model for green hydrogen use in aviation and local transportation, potentially replicable at AGS Airports' other locations and globally.

Airbus, TotalEnergies Launch New Sustainable Aviation Fuel Partnership

Airbus and TotalEnergies have initiated a strategic alliance to foster the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to help achieve the aviation sector's goal of net carbon neutrality by 2050. SAF, derived from sustainable sources like waste oils and agricultural residues, significantly reduces GHG emissions compared to traditional fuels but faces challenges such as limited supply and higher costs. The partnership will see TotalEnergies meeting over half of Airbus's SAF needs in Europe and both entities embarking on R&D to create 100% sustainable fuels suitable for current and future aircraft.
