United Airlines And Five Partners Investing $100m To Back SAF

United Airlines and 5 partners are launching the United Airlines Ventures Sustainable Flight Fund to invest in technologies that expand the availability of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The fund will start with $100 million invested by United Airlines, Air Canada, Boeing, GE Aerospace, JPMorgan Chase and Honeywell. Partners will have access to environmental attributes arising from United’s supply of SAF. United will also allow customers to donate to the fund in exchange for 500 MileagePlus frequent flyer miles.

Fiji Airways Introduces Fly Your Way For Economy Passengers

Fiji Airways has announced a program for economy passengers that allows them to choose what they want from their flights. Called ‘Fly Your Way with Fiji Airways’, the program is part of the carrier’s efforts to innovate and introduce products and services to meet evolving customer needs. Fly Your Way introduces an unbundled economy class fare concept, and has four product offerings: Lite, Value, Comfort and Plus. All economy fare types include meals, inflight entertainment and a carry-on bag of up to 7 kilograms.

Finnair Looks To Improve The Seamless Customer Experience

Finnair announced this month that it is ending its inflight retail service in response to changing customer shopping habits and to make the airline more sustainable. Customers can continue to buy pre-order meals onboard in the future. The airline is also looking to upgrade its seamless customer experience using digital solutions. Finnair also launched its elevated long-haul concept a year ago, and will now rolling it out across the whole long-haul fleet.

Brussels Airlines Launches Course To Help Passengers Overcome The Fear Of Flying

Brussels Airlines has introduced a special course for people who have a fear of flying. The Belgian airline announced last week that it is working with behavioral therapists from a psychological counseling company to develop the program. The course will use virtual reality technology to help people feel more comfortable flying on an airplane. The airline claims that most participants who complete the course could travel by plane without fear.

Seamless Air Alliance And GSMA Partner To Ease Inflight Internet Provisioning

Linking a cell phone plan to inflight internet service could get a little easier, thanks to a new partnership between the Seamless Air Alliance and the GSMA. The deal sits a level above the consumer/airline interaction. Instead, it focuses on enabling easier negotiation of contracts between airlines and mobile phone providers around the globe. Under the announced agreement, the Seamless Air Alliance and the GSMA will work together to develop contracts and request for proposal templates to assist with roaming proposals and negotiations, leveraging the GSMA’s decades of expertise.

Qantas To Open All-New First Class Lounge In London

Qantas plans to open a dedicated first class lounge at London’s Heathrow Airport as the airline continues striding towards non-stop ‘Project Sunrise’ flights from Sydney and Melbourne. The posh preflight haven will be situated at a different part of Heathrow Terminal 3 to the current Qantas London Lounge. The all-new Qantas London First Lounge is expected to combine “sweeping views of the airfield” with a focus on wellbeing features and an unrivaled dining experience.” The lounge spearheads a $100-million investment in the airline’s lounge network.
