Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has announced a $33bn project to build a homegrown aircraft powered by an alternative fuel source, such as hydrogen, by 2035. The plan involves local and foreign manufacturers, including Subaru and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and aims to strengthen supply chains. United Airlines will allow MileagePlus members to pool frequent flyer points in shared accounts, with up to five people able to share and redeem points in a linked account. The project, which began in 2020, was redesigned during the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in a 10% reduction in construction carbon emissions compared to the original plan.
