Cathay Pacific To Remove First Class From 777-300ERs

Cathay Pacific will remove first class across its 777-300ER fleet from mid-2023, replacing the dated suites with its all-new business class pods. The move will make Cathay first class exclusive to its upcoming Boeing 777-9 jets, which may feature a luxurious new first class design possibly carrying the 'Halo' brand. Upgrading the 30-strong Boeing 777-300ERs with the new Aria Suites business class will begin mid-year and is expected to take until mid-2027. The total number of business class seats is not expected to change significantly, with the additional space being used for premium economy expansion.

UK Airports Granted Extension To Install New Security Scanner

Airports in the UK have been granted extensions to the deadline to install new CT X-ray security equipment, first announced six years ago. Despite the two-year deadline, some UK airports have failed to install the technology and have been allowed another 12 months to achieve the new standard. The Department of Transport refused to state which airports were given an extension, citing "national security" issues. The Department said it would fine airports that do not meet the new schedule, but Transport Minister Mark Harper would have to introduce a new Aviation Security Act to legislate for the sanctions.
