Lufthansa Reveals First Aircraft With 'Allegris' Cabin Update

Lufthansa unveiled its "Allegris" cabin updates on an Airbus A350-900, over a year late due to supply chain and airframer delays. The aircraft, featuring new seats in all classes, will begin service between Munich and Vancouver on May 1. The roll-out of Allegris to other markets will be slow, with flights from Munich to Chicago O'Hare, Shanghai Pudong, and Toronto Pearson scheduled later this year. Lufthansa CEO Jens Ritter acknowledged the stretched patience of everyone involved and attributed the delays to delivery issues at Airbus and Boeing, and supply chain logjams.

Dubai Approves $34.8 Billion Plan To Build Replacement For DXB

Dubai's ruler, Mohammed Al Maktoum, has approved plans for a $34.8 billion replacement for Dubai International Airport at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). The new airport will feature a passenger terminal accommodating 260 million passengers annually, making it five times the size of the current hub. DWC will be the hub for "Dubai South," a new city built from the ground up, and will accommodate 400 aircraft gates and five parallel runways. The first phase of the project is expected to be ready within 10 years, with a capacity of 150 million passengers annually.

Lufthansa's New 747 First Class Suites

Lufthansa's private jet arm is developing bespoke first class suites for its Boeing 747-8 fleet, with six suites in the nose of the jumbo, including a spacious 'double berth' for two passengers. The suites will be a customized version of the Lufthansa Allegris First suites, developed by Lufthansa Technik's VIP aircraft team. The nose section's curvature poses a challenge, requiring a perfect layout and fit. Each suite will feature 1.8m-high walls, a personal wardrobe, and space for a standard-size cabin bag. The Allegris First suites convert to a wide, fully-flat bed with an ottoman that doubles as a companion seat.

Jamco & JAXA Design Widebody Metamorphic Lav Concept For PRMs

Jamco Corporation has designed a next-generation widebody lavatory called the "Metamorphic Lavatory" as part of its "Jamco Vision 2030" project in collaboration with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The concept aims to address the constraints of accessible lavatories on twin-aisle aircraft, which can be difficult for passengers requiring total assistance from caregivers. The "Metamorphic Lavatory" temporarily combines two adjacent lavatory units and a connecting cross aisle to create a spacious environment without reducing seat capacity, providing a solution for passengers with disabilities who need more room to maneuver.

On my 50 minute @wizzair flight from #Muscat to #AbuDhabi, buy on board items were available 'on demand' due to the 'short duration of the flight'. Interestingly, @IndiGo6E crews roll out carts on flights that long. No marks for guessing what I bought 😎✈️ #AvGeek #PaxEx
