Qantas to Purchase Remaining Stake in Alliance Aviation

Qantas has signed an agreement to acquire the remaining 80% stake that it does not already own in Alliance Aviation Services in an all-scrip deal. The deal will issue nearly $444m of new shares to purchase the remaining stake, making Alliance Aviation wholly-owned by Qantas. Currently, the Australian-based Alliance constitutes 2% of the domestic airline market with a fleet of 70 aircraft, each with a 100 seat capacity. According to the agreed terms, Alliance shareholders will receive each Qantas share at $3.44 apiece. The deal is still awaiting competition clearance and approval from Alliance shareholders.
