Flair Airlines Meets CTA Regulations to Operate as Canadian

After two months of investigations, the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) has announced its final ruling concerning Flair Airlines; the airline meets the regulations regarding foreign ownership of a Canadian airline. For an airline to be registered as Canadian, 51 percent of the voting interests must be controlled by Canadians. The regulator was concerned by the role of 777 Partners, an American company that has an almost 25 percent stake in the airline. Flair amended its unanimous shareholder agreement and decreased the number of 777 Partners’ seats on its board of directors in order to meet the CTA’s deadline to prove it was Canadian by May 3.

Southwest matched the pilot-scale grant from the DOE to support phase one of the project, which is expected to include technology validation, preliminary design, and a business plan for a pilot plant. DOE and Southwest would have the opportunity to fund a second phase investment, which would see the renewable ethanol upgraded into SAF by LanzaJet, at its biorefinery currently under construction in Soperton, Georgia.
