2022 APEX Regional PCA Winners Announced in Dublin

The winners of the  2022 APEX Regional Passenger Choice Awards (PCA) were announced yesterday in Dublin at an event ‎collocated with the FTE EMEA/Ancillary/World Airport Retailing Summit. The awards recognize airlines in various regions for providing the best passenger experiences as rated by passengers.  APEX/IFSA CEO Dr. Joe Leader said. “Over the last year, each of these airlines has taken incredible steps to provide the best in-flight experience against the backdrop of challenges. We are proud to shine a light on these best-in-class airlines for each region of the world.”

FTE Dublin Awards 2022 Winners Announced

On June 9 at the Royal Dublin Society in Dublin, the most innovative airlines, airports and startups were recognized for delivering transformative thinking, new commercial and ancillary strategies, and customer experience excellence at the Future Travel Experience (FTE) Dublin Awards ceremony. As well as the APEX Passenger choice awards, there were winners in the FTE Airline/Airport Transformation Power Lists EMEA, FTE World Ancillary Award, FTE World Airport Retailing Award, and the FTE Startup Innovation Award.

Spirit Delays Shareholder Meeting on Frontier Merger

Spirit Airlines announced Wednesday that it has postponed a Friday meeting in which shareholders were slated to vote on a plan to merge with Frontier Airlines. The meeting was moved to June 30. The announcement comes after JetBlue Airways, which has its own plan to acquire Spirit, sweetened its offer for the carrier by $150 million, saying it would pay Spirit $350 million in the “unlikely” event that a merger between the two carriers failed to win regulatory approval.

Qantas Introduces Italian Themed Menu on New Italy Flights

To celebrate the launch of Qantas’s new direct Perth to Rome services, Qantas is introducing a new Italian themed menu, curated by Australian chef, restaurateur and Qantas director of food, beverage and service Neil Perry.  Passengers will be offered “regional recipes”, including prawn spaghettini, zucchini and basil soup, grilled fish with peperonata, pine nuts and basil, as well as traditional tiramisu for dessert. The new menu will also be rolled out across selected Qantas First and business class lounges from 2 June.

ThinKom Solutions and Carlisle Interconnect Technologies (CarlisleIT) announced plans to bring to market a new fully integrated phased-array Ka-band satellite antenna solution to meet the demand for high-speed in-flight connectivity on regional jets. The ThinAir Ka1717 uses the proven Variable Inclination Continuous Transverse Stubtechnology that is currently in use on thousands of narrow- and wide-body aircraft.

Aviation can meet the Paris targets According to New ICCT Report

The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) has released a report saying that the industry can reduce aviation emissions enough to keep global warming below 2 degrees, provided there are the right levels of investment and quantities of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) available. The authors say that “It’s going to cost a lot of money, but we have to make plans now. We can’t wait until 2030 or 2040.”
