Boeing Clear To Deliver American Airlines 787 Tomorrow

American Airlines has confirmed it expects to receive delivery of its first Boeing 787-8 as early as tomorrow, Aug 10. This will be American's first 787 delivery since April 2021. The aircraft, with registration number N880BJ, will be delivered from Charleston and is expected to enter commercial service in the coming weeks. Following this delivery, American will have 47 active 787 family aircraft in its fleet with an additional 42 on order.

Lufthansa Reaches Wage Deal With Ground Staff Union

Lufthansa has agreed a new pay deal for around 20,000 ground staff, just days after a major strike forced the airline to cancel more than 1,000 flights. The airline announced that it had agreed “significant” salary increases over the next 18 months with the ver.di trade union, which represents the employees. The deal followed a highly disruptive ‘warning strike’ last week that resulted in Lufthansa being forced to cancel more than 1,000 flights.

Kuwait Airways Launches New On-Board Menus

Kuwait Airways announced the launch of its new food menus, which will be introduced shortly on-board. The carrier held a presentation of these new, diverse menus, in the presence of various specialized chefs, culinary experts and international hotel officials. The launch of these menus arises from within the framework of the company’s keenness to provide diverse services in accordance with its strategic plans towards developing and improving procedures and systems.

Boeing Takes On New Role To Help Cut Aviation Emissions Faster

Boeing will represent the aviation industry as a ‘sector champion’ in The First Movers Coalition (FMC), a global alliance to accelerate clean technologies and reduce carbon emissions. Created in late 2021, the FMC aims to bring together major companies to speed up the pace of decarbonizing industrial sectors such as shipping, chemicals, aviation and trucking. It is led by the World Economic Forum and the US Envoy for Climate, John Kerry. Along with Boeing, other members of the FMC include Apple, Amazon and The Volvo Group.

Delta Air Lines To Host Aircraft Cabin Innovation Summit

RedCabin and Delta Air Lines have announced their Aircraft Cabin Innovation Summit 2022 from 13-15 September in Atlanta. The three-day summit will see leaders from across the aviation industry develop and unveil new partnerships and product innovations. The first two days of the summit will see delegates explore the most pressing challenges and trends in the aircraft interior industry, as well as next generation cabin concepts and designs for a post-pandemic world. The final day, known as ‘Delta Day’, will have a tour of the Delta Flight Museum, followed by a behind-the-scenes look at Delta TechOps – the airline’s MRO facility.

JetBlue Launches Nonstop Service From Boston To London

JetBlue has officially launched its service from Boston’s Logan International Airport to London’s Gatwick Airport. This route is part of the airline’s long-term transatlantic growth plans. London is one of the most requested destinations from Boston. The carrier is operating these Gatwick flights with an Airbus A321 Long Range narrowbody aircraft outfitted with 22 upgraded Mint suites based on the Thompson Vantage Solo inward-facing herringbone, two bespoke business-plus seats called Mint Studio, and 114 core economy seats, including 24 Even More Space extra legroom seats.

Jason Momoa Makes Special Appearance As A Flight Attendant

Jason Momoa made a very special trip this week from Los Angeles to Hawaii. He was traveling with Hawaiian Airlines to celebrate the airline's partnership with his water company, Mananalu. The actor surprised unsuspecting passengers by personally handing out aluminium bottles filled with purified water. He explained that the mission of Mananalu was to end single-use plastic. For every bottle of Mananalu sold, they remove one plastic bottle from the ocean. He claimed the company has removed 3 million plastic bottles from the ocean this year.
