New High Speed Scanners At London City Airport Reduce Security Wait Times

London City Airport (LCY) has successfully implemented new CT scanners in its security area, reducing the security check duration from 7 minutes in 2022 to 3 minutes and 45 seconds. This allows for a 30% increase in passenger processing and a potential 30% reduction in queue times. The scanners also eliminate the 100ml liquid limit, and passengers no longer need to remove liquids and electronics from carry-ons. While LCY has adopted the technology, London Heathrow and Gatwick Airports are yet to implement these next-generation scanners.

Boston Logan Quietly Opened Its International Terminal Expansion

Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) has opened the expansion of its international terminal, adding four new gates and a spacious area for passengers, along with a top-tier Delta Sky Club lounge. Initially intended to add seven gates, the project was scaled down due to budget cuts during the pandemic. The extension is noticeably different from the existing terminal, with modern design features and more natural light. Despite the soft launch, the expansion will increase gate capacity by 33%, aiding the airport as an international gateway to the U.S.
