Sri Lanka To Privatize National Carrier SriLankan Airlines

The Sri Lankan Government has decided to privatize the country's loss-making national carrier as they "can no longer afford to inject money" into running the airline. The government is looking to sell a 49% stake each of the SriLankan Airlines’ catering and ground-handling units in efforts to restructure the state-run carrier, while 51% will be retained under state hold. The aviation minister said the revenue from the sale of the catering operation can be used to pay off debt amounting to $80 million that was obtained by mortgaging its shares.

Contemplating The Latest Set Of #PaxEx Questions From Aviointeriors

Italian seat maker Aviointeriors is always up for a new concept. But with CEO Paolo Drago moving on, Avio finds itself at a transition point. They continue to offer mostly retrofit seating products from lightweight low-cost economy through to fully flat bed with direct aisle access. Drago’s last contributions as CEO were the concepts that the company brought to its stand in Hamburg, and particularly Heric — an acronym for “herringbone in cruise” — and Dodo. The idea behind both products is that of flexibility, especially in the growing single-aisle long haul market, where all kinds of ideas on how to arrange the geometry of narrowbody aircraft are floating around.
