Finnair Trims Fleet Amid Russian Airspace Closure

The closure of the Russian airspace has significantly impacted Finnair’s Asia-bound flights and hence, its profitability. The carrier’s flights to certain Asian destinations have become longer, resulting in higher operating costs. The airline has announced a significant structural renewal which will involve a reduction of the fleet to optimize its network. To return to profitability, Finnair has also implemented a geographically balanced network connecting Europe-Asia, India-Middle East, and North America via its home hub Helsinki.

SITA Solution To Streamline Travel In Jamaica

Jamaica will adopt SITA’s Digital Travel Declaration solution, allowing travelers to submit all documentation required for entry into the country through a streamlined, efficient and secure platform. Passengers can submit all their immigration, customs, and health documents easily through the service. The platform will support Jamaica’s Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency in clearing passengers for travel pre-departure. This will also ensure a safe and streamlined return to international travel in Jamaica.

ANA To Debut “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba” Special Aircraft

ANA will release a new Demon Slayer livery aircraft, the third such aircraft in partnership with the anime franchise. The design for the new livery is based on an original illustration by Ufotable, drawn exclusively for the ANA aircraft. The special livery will be on the B777-200ER aircraft. Each seat will be fitted with a customized headrest cover featuring the characters Tanjiro and Nezuko. Beverages will be served in Demon Slayer themed cups. Passengers will also be given a commemorative memo pad on four of the aircraft's first flights.

Omnevo Partners With AeroParker To Offer Digital Airport Parking Services

German digital marketplace solution provider Omnevo has entered a strategic partnership with online parking provider AeroParker. The partners will develop a combined solution to improve the overall end-user parking and online retail experience, and increase ancillary revenue at airports. Aeroparker’s service includes pre-booking, fast track, lounge access and loyalty schemes which will be accessible from the Omenvo platform. This will create a more connected journey for travelers, and help airports develop a digital ancillary revenue strategy.

Intelsat And Nelco Deal Offers In-Flight Connectivity In India

Integrated satellite and terrestrial network operator Intelsat has partnered with Indian satellite communication service provider Nelco, to offer in-flight connectivity (IFC) services. Through this collaboration, Nelco will further expand its Aero IFC service using Intelsat’s IS-33e high-throughput satellite. S-33e, which was launched in 2016, provides C and Ku-band connectivity to parts of Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.  It is also approved by Indian government regulators.

Turkish Airlines Becomes Official Sponsor Of The UEFA Champions League

Turkish Airlines is the first airline to become the official sponsor of the UEFA Champions League. This season’s UEFA league is scheduled to take place at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium in 2023.  The airline will have a wide range of exposure, logo and name rights before, during and after the matches including LED screens surrounding the field. Turkish Airlines will also partner with the UEFA Super Cup, the UEFA Futsal Champions League finals, and the UEFA Youth League finals as the official sponsor.

Qantas Eyes Non-Stop Flights To Chicago And Miami

Qantas has added Chicago And Miami to its ambitious ‘Project Sunrise’ flights. Project Sunrise is Qantas’ long-dreamed-of goal to establish direct flights between Australia and the cities of New York and London. It is now adding more destinations to these 18-20 hour flights. Qantas is the only airline to offer such direct flights, giving it a number of monopoly routes for travelers who want to save time and avoid the hassles of stopovers.
