Air India To Expand Fleet With 30 Boeing And Airbus Jets

Tata Group-owned Air India has announced that it will lease 30 Boeing and Airbus aircraft to expand its fleet by more than 25%. The latest deals comprise the leasing of 21 Airbus A320neos, four Airbus A321neos and 5 Boeing B777-200LRs. The Airbus jets will be deployed on domestic and short-haul international routes, with deliveries expected to begin in the first quarter of next year. The B777-200LRs will join the fleet between December and March, and will likely be used on India-US routes. The airline currently has 54 narrow-body aircraft and 33 wide-body aircraft operational. Tata Group faces an uphill task to upgrade the airline’s aging fleet and turn around its financials and service levels.

Los Angeles World Airports To Host FTE Global 2023

Future Travel Experience (FTE), part of the APEX family, has announced that Los Angeles World Airports will host FTE Global 2023, which will take place on September 19-21, 2023, at the Long Beach Convention Center, California. FTE Global is widely renowned as “the CES for aviation”. Sixteen years after its launch in Las Vegas, the show is now re-locating to Los Angeles, where it will be staged alongside APEX EXPO 2023. This will be the largest gathering of air transport executives in North America to learn, collaborate and be inspired on their next moves to transform their organizations’ passenger experience, business performance, innovation, and sustainability strategies.

Turkish Airlines Becomes World’s Largest Network Carrier

Turkish Airlines became the world's biggest network carrier in terms of seat capacity on international flights in August. The airline set the historic record in August by increasing its seat capacity by 14%. Turkish Airlines carried 7.8 million passengers in July and August, surpassing its pre-pandemic record. The airline’s historic feat comes at a time when global airline companies are still coping with the after-effects of the pandemic and struggling to achieve their 2019 figures.

Geven Essenza Sparkles As Austrian A320 Eurobusiness

Austrian Airlines’ Eurobusiness class on board its Airbus A320 aircraft has been outfitted with Geven’s Essenza slimline seats. The Essenza seats are kitted out in a standard gray palette with red stitching, a red antimacassar and bright red seat belts. The seats have a minimum 30” pitch and offer an expansive legroom along with the recline option. USB charging points for both USB-A and USB-C type chargers are also available under the front seat.

Allegiant Plans More “Extra” Seats On 737 MAX Fleet

Allegiant’s upcoming 737 MAX 8200 fleet will feature more rows of its “Allegiant Extra” seating. The upcoming 737 MAX deliveries will have ten rows of the extra legroom seats, compared to the 5 Extra rows on board the current A320s. This will include the first five rows as well as five rows around the over wing exits. The Extra rows have been increased following customer demands to improve convenience and comfort on the airline’s nonstop flights.

Qatar Airways Makes Way For ‘Super Wi-Fi’ With Inmarsat

Inmarsat has been selected as the inflight connectivity provider for Qatar Airways’ Boeing 787-9 and 737-10 fleet. Through Inmarsat’s high-speed global inflight broadband service, GX Aviation, the airline will offer one hour of free ‘Super Wi-Fi’ access. Passengers can purchase access for the remainder of the flight. The seamless and reliable broadband service will be available across the aircraft and flight routes, allowing passengers to stay connected to family and friends, browse the internet, enjoy social media, and shop online.

Aspire Lounge Shortlisted For The World’s Best Lounge Award

The Aspire Lounge at Perth Airport has been named the best airport lounge in Oceania. The airport is now in the running to be named the world’s best at the 29th annual World Travel Awards. The pay-per-use airport lounge provides seating, a kid’s zone, and multiple dining and bar options. Charging stations and facilities for working and dining are also available. The food service offers contemporary classics made using locally sourced ingredients. Local beers and regional wines can be enjoyed at the lounge’s bar service. Passengers can pre-book their tickets for the Aspire Lounge online via the Perth Airport website.
