The President Of Rwanda Officially Opens Aviation Africa 2022

Aviation Africa 2022 was officially opened in Kigali, Rwanda, today by Paul Kagame, the President of the Republic of Rwanda. He expressed his intentions to continue expanding RwandAir within the continent and abroad in partnership with Qatar Airways and the currently under construction National Airport, Bugesera. The sixth edition of Aviation Africa Summit & Exhibition is the biggest event yet, with 1100 attendees from 84 countries. The audience includes government ministers, air chiefs of staff and director generals of civil aviation authorities.

AGS Airports Unveils Smartphone App To Streamline Passenger Experience

UK’s AGS Airports has launched its new mobile application to improve passenger experience from arriving at the airport to boarding the airplane. The airport group said that its application allows passengers to track flights, navigate the terminal, book parking, VIP lounge, Covid-19 tests, navigate the terminal, and much more. Part of the Digital Passenger Experience, which was launched by AGS in 2018 at Glasgow and Aberdeen airports, along with the Digital Hub, the application is said to have been designed to understand the passengers’ experience better.

Recaro Aircraft Seating Sees Flexible Cabins As The Next Frontier

Recaro Aircraft Seating faces a changing landscape as it reaches its 50th year. The company says flexible cabins are expected to be part of its future in a variety of ways. Recaro already has a history with flexible cabins, given their collaboration with Air New Zealand on its Skycouch idea. In order to accommodate future flexible cabins, Recaro is focused on producing aircraft seats that deliver passenger comfort and the type of weight savings that airlines now require in a bid to slash fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Air Canada Debuts World's First Inflight Interactive Route Map

Air Canada has launched WhereWeFly as its interactive route map for passengers to explore routes and view flights. As part of their continued commitment to enhancing the customer experience the map was deployed on Air Canada’s Panasonic seatback IFE and Thales Wireless Portal. WhereWeFly provides passengers with a map and searchable directory of all of Air Canada’s routes and destinations. In one click, Air Canada’s hubs are instantly showcased presenting all routes from their primary global hub in Toronto (YYZ), Montreal (YUL), or Vancouver (YVR).

Retail inMotion Relaunches Lufthansa’s Inflight Shopping

Airline retail and technology solutions provider Retail inMotion has relaunched Lufthansa’s inflight shopping offer for intercontinental flights. The program brings an updated selection of boutique products to the German flag carrier’s passengers. Lufthansa passengers will now be able to choose from a new product assortment developed by Retail inMotion in partnership with the airline’s retail brand WorldShop. It includes travel essentials, bestsellers and premium brand products. The product offer is clustered into themes: products that show you care, products for your journey, and exclusives from Germany such as the Lufthansa aviation tag and Creative-Tonie Lufthansa Flight Attendant.

Japan To Waive Tourist Visa Requirements As Part Of Border Easing

Japan's government is planning to waive tourist visa requirements from some countries as part of a further easing of border controls enacted to stop the spread of COVID-19. The Prime Minister may decide as early as this week on the easing, which would also allow individual travelers to visit Japan without travel agency bookings. Japan did not require tourist visas for 68 countries and regions before the pandemic. To open up the country further, Japan may scrap a daily cap on arrivals by October.

Honeywell Is Driving Fuel Efficiency At Gulf Air

Bahrain’s flag carrier Gulf Air has signed a multiyear renewal of Honeywell Forge software that is used on approximately 36 aircraft in its fleet. The carrier says this tech has helped it receive accurate data on fuel burn, which it has used to optimize its fueling strategies, develop and manage more efficient routes, and measure impact on companywide efficiency and sustainability initiatives. Honeywell Forge Connected Aerospace provides airline and business aviation operators with a suite of end-to-end connectivity and operational efficiency solutions powered by an all-in-one dashboard, dedicated support, and built-in cybersecurity.
