Latin America Could Produce 30% Of The World's SAF By 2030

The Latin American region could supply over 30% of the global demand for sustainable aviation fuel by 2030. During the Aviation Law Americas 2022 event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association said the region could be a major provider of raw materials to produce SAF. The region also has the capacity to create the necessary jobs to supply future demand. Brazil alone has the potential to supply over 30% of the global demand for SAF by 2030.

Lufthansa Brings Back Oktoberfest Flights In 2022

Lufthansa has announced its flight attendants will be wearing a new, sustainably produced traditional Oktoberfest attire and serving Bavarian specialties in the carrier’s First and Business Class to celebrate the Oktoberfest season. As has been a tradition for the past 16 years, Lufthansa will have special flights with the woman crew members wearing dirndls and men wearing the lederhose. The dirndl is sustainably produced by Munich-based costume specialist Angermaier.

Air New Zealand Connects Auckland And New York For The First Time Ever

Air New Zealand’s first nonstop flight to New York landed yesterday at JFK Airport. New York was a destination the flag carrier had long wished to reach nonstop. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner took off from Auckland, taking a little over 16 hours to reach New York. The new flight will have a frequency of three times per week. It is the longest flight route for NZ and the fifth longest in the world, just behind Qantas’ Melbourne – Dallas and Emirates Dubai – Auckland.

Viva Aerobus Introduces New Raiders Airbus A320 Livery

Viva Aerobus has launched the inaugural flight of its special livery Airbus A320. The aircraft sports a livery themed after the NFL football team, the Las Vegas Raiders. The arrival of the aircraft coincides with Mexico’s Independence Day celebrations, reinforcing the message of solidarity between fans of both countries. In this context, and to celebrate the first commercial flight of the XA-VAK, the rock band The Warning entertained the trip from Mexico City (MEX) to Las Vegas (LAS), and the Raiders sent a surprise gift to all passengers.

Hong Kong Could Announce Quarantine-Free Travel This Week

Hong Kong could detail plans to end hotel quarantine for inbound travelers in a move designed to trumpet the financial hub’s revival. The announcement could come as soon as this week with arrivals instead required to undergo self-monitoring for seven days. The implementation date is undecided as it will affect existing operations for the airline and hotel industries. The people arriving in the financial hub will have to spend three days in a designated hotel followed by four days of restrictions from bars and restaurants.

UK Approves Proposed Combination Of Inmarsat, Viasat

Viasat and Inmarsat today announced the receipt of approval of the proposed combination of their businesses by the UK Government under the National Security & Investment Act. In March 2022, the companies committed to economic undertakings with Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, which underlined their pledge to strengthen and advance the UK’s National Space Strategy. The economic undertakings include an expansion in the number of highly skilled jobs in key areas and a 30% increase in overall research and development spending in the UK.

Regula Forensics Introduces Handheld Device For On-Site Document Checks

Identity verification solutions developer Regula Forensics has launched a handheld device for express document verification, named Regula 1031. The tool has been designed to be lightweight, reliable and functional. The device’s body is made of shockproof plastic. It features a display that indicates the battery charge level and operating mode. Depending on the modification, Regula 1031 offers 15x, 20x or 24x zoom, which makes it possible to examine micro printing, as well as elements applied with nano printing, such as holograms. It also offers examinations in infrared light.
